So it is just luck of the draw? Seems like some have had their phones unlock as expected.
There is ultimately a reason, but nothing to do with the customer. Maybe it was a block of serial numbers that weren't sent unlock signal, maybe it was based on manufacturer date, etc.

Mine is being delivered this week so I've got a couple of months for them to maybe figure it out.

Tracfone is the parent company of Straight Talk and handles unlocking for all its sub-companies. Unlocking android phone is commonly made by unlocking codes or a unlock app on the phone. This new Moto Power is remotely unlocked by the server like iPhone, in which the unlocking involves uncertainty. Eligibility is not a issue since every one gets eligible text as confirmation from unlocking portal and customer service. That means activation date and IMEI database in their server are OK. The problem occurs when the unlocking command is sent from the server or received by the phone. The unlocking command is probably sent only one time at 61th day after activation considering Tracfone system marks phones as "unlocked" after that date (despite some of phones are not unlocked in fact). One thing that Tracfone could do is to manually re-send the unlocking command to those phones, or develop a unlock app like T-Mobile on their locked Motor Power to manually trigger unlocking signal from the server.

Maybe 2 months of service is required for the cannot unlock phones? Yes, I heard there were unlocked phones with only 1 month of service.
Oh come on, don't make comments that aren't true. It is clear in their unlocking policy.

That is not true. A manager from Tracfone corporate called me and said that my device is indeed eligible to be unlocked and that there is a system malfunction that is likely preventing the device from unlocking automatically.

Don't bother with their regular customer support because they are useless. File a FCC complaint and one of their managers will give you a callback within a couple of days.

I just got off phone with customer support... you are right. They keep saying system says phone can be unlocked. Was the manager able to unlock for you in the end?

He told me that he will be escalating the matter and their team will look at it next week. He had me send screenshots over so at least it appears that we are getting somewhere. He will continue to be in touch with me until the issue is resolved.

Let me guess, 72 hours? LOL

He was just feeding you their script. It was escalated days ago, he did nothing for you at all and simply tossed it in their FCC trash file.

That's the same "escalating " BS we've been hearing over and over, it's made no difference. Waste of time to have you do screenshots, shows that support still isn't aware there's a major problem and that numerous complaints have been made.

Read the last 2 weeks of posts, they haven't a clue.

I can see it now... These dang customers, making us poor tech support/call center folks work to call back all of these FCC/BBB complaints... time to play around with them, make them do some work and make them send screenshots Smilie

They will figure it out eventually. Meaning a week or two.

Or 3 or 4 -
It's already been 2 weeks since the first complaints were made and only one rep has even acknowledged they have a problem, the rest act like it's something we did.
