First time I've seen the ingredient defatted almond flour. We in the US really do find new ways to make regular perfectly healthy things more processed. Also what is the point of high oleic sunflower oil if it already has regular sunflower oil and of course canola oil. So take out the good almond oil and add other grosser oils...

Despite my rantings, still bought to try lol. Quest chips uses similar ingredients

Do these taste good?

I can vouch that Mr. Tortilla chips are friggin' horrible, like flavored cardboard tortilla-shaped chips.

I also bought a sample pack from Ultra Slim Foods which are zero carb. The hamburger buns were okay, but really thin, almost too thin for the purpose. Any condiments soak right through the bun and no room for onion and tomato. Some of the sample items like the biscuit and donut went moldy before I could get to them. Being single, I can't just open the box and eat everything at once. But the shelf life is not good. Their cupcakes, cloud cakes all have such a crumbly texture that they basically crumble when you try to eat them. Like in the cupcake shell, you have to put it on a dish and scrape the cake out. Taste was okay but for the cost? No.
I still have their zero carb pasta (Impasta), a bag of their bagels and a loaf of their bread to try. The bagels are okay-sized, the bread a bit small. I'm not looking forward to trying them at this point because I have a feeling that as soon as I open the packages, they're going to mold before I can finish them.

Sorry, don't mean to thread crap. I appreciate deals on keto / low carb being posted. I'm just trying to find stuff that tastes good lol I'm type 2 diabetic btw.

This is actually a much healthier alternative to what you find in the ingredients of Doritos. You may notice the almondy taste and texture in Hilo chips (some like it but I don't). In my limited opinion for taste/texture, Quest is better than Hilo, but if you're extremely picky on your macros (like you're actively on a low carb diet) then Hilo may be better than Quest. Regardless this is very good price.

Quest doesn't use almonds and you'll notice the taste/texture difference (for better/worse)

Sound like the CEO 😂 😂 yeah at literally 5 times the price it is a ridiculous price. that is equivalent to ON SALE a $10.59 bag of regular Doritos that sells for 2 for $4 on sale at the grocery.

I totally agree. I tried these (wanting to save a little money because the Quest chips are so expensive), and I wasn't impressed. The taste was only so-so. They contain half the protein of the Quest, and the Quest tastes much better.. IMHO..

Because the ingredients cost more, aren't done at as large a scale as what Frito-Lay does, and most importantly, it fulfills a need of people on a diet that are trying to stay on that diet. It's only nonsense until it's important to your well-being.

I would flip this -- I think Hilo is better than Quest for chips.

Hilo has a stronger crunch and a more substantial chip, while still being close to a corn chip. It is true that you notice the almond flour in both taste and texture. Hilo's spices are good and mitigate that somewhat. I like a chip with a little more oomph to it, so Hilo is my #1.

Quest chips are much thinner, though have a cleaner taste. They are good but more delicate. They have the chip taste down, though the experience of eating them is different -- it's more like Pringles than corn chips. That is not necessarily a bad thing. Though Hilo chips make better nachos.

About a dollar a bag is a very good price, and you get four different flavors. It's been an age since I've seen them in Costco, and grocery store prices for these are obscene.

Almond flour is much more expensive than corn. Also, while it is getting easier to source keto ingredients, manufacturers are still all over the place with how good their products are at imitating high-carb foods. I have had other 'chips' that had the texture of cheetos (which, not bad, but not chips). Or worse.

Hilo chips may be expensive, but if you can't eat 'real' chips (for whatever reason), these are really nice to have.

It is nonsense because I never ever ever ever ever ever see these bags on sale for $5 for a regular sized bag....always these complete scam "snack bags" that are a dollar an ounce on sale.

I have no problem with charging more. Why not just make it a $5 a bag rather than an $11 for the same quantity in a "snack bag" 🤔

This was certainly true a couple years ago. Yes Hilo still has a crunchier chip, but I have noticed the Quest chips have become a little less delicate. I used to buy the Loaded Taco flavor and would try using them in a dip and, yes, they would break. It's a little less the case now, but I admit it may be more of me knowing how to use them in that manner. (Also their Nacho Cheese, which I think they changed the flavor some recently, and their Spicy Hot flavors are really good.)
