$300 can get them unlocked on Ebay already unless have current Metro Plan or T-Mobile to swap the phone to.

These still work out of the box with T-Mobile Physical SIM no need to pay $70 month to use the phone.

I used a coupon when ebay had 20% warehouse on this unlocked version. Pretty nice for $400 but on the heavy side for some reason. The AI is pretty amazing if you need that sort of thing. Real time translation or interpreting without the cloud

I don't think so. I bought the exact same phone with 1 month plan last year (for $149+tax) when Metro was still sane (180 days of locking period) and I can confirm, this device DID NOT work with my TMobile sim until after 180 days when it got unlocked. Unless something has changed now, it's not worth buying at this insane price and waiting for 1 year to unlock.

Confirming this was the same case for me when I bought this when it first came out for Metro.

Not sure if something has changed though besides the 365 day unlock period.

I think mine didn't work
With t mobile initially but then work with t mobile after Android 14 update. Sometime around March 2024. It's still locked till that time

Even if it did work post update, there is a high probability that with a new update it will stop working (I think it was a similar case with some other devices earlier). So personally with a potential 1 year wait and higher price, I won't consider this device. Having said that, it's just my use case, might not be true for everyone

it has $280 trade-in at bestbuy currently they don't care if its carrier locked.
