Unless cable matters is a more reputable brand, Buy 2 of the 6ft ones below for $5.57

You folks do what you want (I'm a bit of a retro snob who insists on successfully running 10GbE over CAT5E) but I'm waiting for CAT9 because it's one better than CAT8.

cat5e is inferior when it comes to shielding and crosstalk. People get bamboozled all the time when contractors wire up their homes with cheapo cat5e. I wired My parent's home with Cat6a, cost was minimal.

Bro my house was built 24 years ago and I'm the third owner. It's not as if I had a choice in the matter. If you wanna climb in a 130F Florida attic over 20' ceilings and run cable through block walls, then be my guest. iperf says I'm doing just fine on my shorter runs ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I did it in Houston during the summer, very similar to Florida, but I'm young and can put up with the heat to an extent. If I lived over there, I would do it for free. Getting a house wired leaves you feeling accomplished Smilie Block walls? The easiest way is to route cables outside using a rotary hammer drill and use outdoor rated cables. Mikrotik and ubiquiti have some nice outdoor switches with grounding for linking everything.

Young or not, attic monkey adventures are best saved for wintertime! While my CAT5E works just fine, I'm planning to install some catwalk to make it easier to do a few fiber runs (10GbE transceivers are too hot and not cost effective enough for me) and build out some storage platforms.
