I run in both and they're comparable. The Kayano (29) feels a bit more softer and stable to me, so I tend to reach for them more often. But the GT 2000 is also really good and there are a lot more deals to be had. (DSW had a pair for $40 in the spring, so I picked up a second pair even though the color is not for me.)

I heavily overpronate, have flat feet, heavily heel strike, and have tried a lot of different running shoes. When I first started running with the GT 2000, the pain and discomfort I had always experienced running went away. When I added Kayano 29, there was no discomfort and I felt (and continue to feel) great afterwards. I heard the Kayano 30/31 is a little different in some ways to the 29, so I can't speak to that one. But, to your original question, the GT 2000 and Kayano are both stability shoes and I think they're really similar. The Kayano is my favorite running shoe, followed by the GT 2000, then Mizuno Wave Inspire 17, and then everything else.

Side note: everybody's different, and I think it's worth going to a running store in person to get properly fitted and evaluated, even if you just do it once. I had been running with the wrong size shoe and wrong type of shoe (for me) for years.

Anyway, not sure what you're coming from previously, but if you're deciding between the GT 2000 and the Kayano, it's probably worth picking these GT 2000s up for $55 and giving them a go.

The price seems terrific, but I'm not about to buy a from a website 1.6/5 stars:

There is currently a similar deal directly from ASICS on the GT2000 and they definitely have shoes and I've bought from them before.

Can't stand the newer gt 2000s, they don't have nearly as much energy return without that plastic strip in the bottom
Dang really? I just bought one thinking it would be the same as they always have been

This site is an absolute pain. They canceled my Asics Kayanos 29 a day after ordering and confirming, and now the promo code is bugging out for this new order. It applied it at first but then removed it during the checkout process and now won't let me enter it again, or even my email address to get a separate 10 off. It's ridiculous.
Terrible website. Took 5 tries to place an order. Lets hope all their focus is in the warehouse.

The Brooks Beasts are a great shoe for walking or if you do a lot of standing/walking around at work. Nothing sexy with color combos available but excellent shoe.

Ordered a pair of GT 2000 in black in size 12 and they arrived a couple days later in NC. Guess it's either proximity to FL or luck but happy.

They sent me a letter saying that there is no size 8.5, but there is one! I'm very dissatisfied with the service, support doesn't help.. and also, the coupon doesn't work!!!

I ordered black 9.5 gt 2000s…but..the shoe is like an inch or so longer than all my previous gt 2000s. It says 9.5 and still fits sorta but what's up with it being a little longer?
