I run in both and they're comparable. The Kayano (29) feels a bit more softer and stable to me, so I tend to reach for them more often. But the GT 2000 is also really good and there are a lot more deals to be had. (DSW had a pair for $40 in the spring, so I picked up a second pair even though the color is not for me.)

I heavily overpronate, have flat feet, heavily heel strike, and have tried a lot of different running shoes. When I first started running with the GT 2000, the pain and discomfort I had always experienced running went away. When I added Kayano 29, there was no discomfort and I felt (and continue to feel) great afterwards. I heard the Kayano 30/31 is a little different in some ways to the 29, so I can't speak to that one. But, to your original question, the GT 2000 and Kayano are both stability shoes and I think they're really similar. The Kayano is my favorite running shoe, followed by the GT 2000, then Mizuno Wave Inspire 17, and then everything else.

Side note: everybody's different, and I think it's worth going to a running store in person to get properly fitted and evaluated, even if you just do it once. I had been running with the wrong size shoe and wrong type of shoe (for me) for years.

Anyway, not sure what you're coming from previously, but if you're deciding between the GT 2000 and the Kayano, it's probably worth picking these GT 2000s up for $55 and giving them a go.

Either the discount changed or it has a max value of $10. I have $150 in my cart and only $10 comes off with the promo. Still worth it for me... they happen to have my favorite style in only my size!

Is this a good deal for On Shoes? Seems like a sales price to me.

This site is an absolute pain. They canceled my Asics Kayanos 29 a day after ordering and confirming, and now the promo code is bugging out for this new order. It applied it at first but then removed it during the checkout process and now won't let me enter it again, or even my email address to get a separate 10 off. It's ridiculous.

Can't stand the newer gt 2000s, they don't have nearly as much energy return without that plastic strip in the bottom

You've got to be kidding me. They're charging $140 for GT 2000s? Might as well get the nimbus or the Kayano... Anadr plastic sock glued to a foam sole and the stripes are glued on come on people. This stuff is garbage

Varies year to year as they constantly change the formula for both. Some years the GT2000 has more stability then the Kayano.

The Kayano will always use the newest material/tech. Be it a gimmick or something that actually pans out. If the GT2000 doesn't pick it up in a year or two it either was a dud or too expensive to push down.

That is what I'm talkin' about. $30-35 max for me for tennis shoes that end up disintegrating after a few years.
