Is this really that bad? I mean, three of the four categories do suck, but gas is huge. That alone makes it a solid quarter IMHO.
Long time Chase Freedom cardholder here and I gotta say this is gonna be a trash quarter with these options. However, it is hardly a surprise. For Chase Freedom, you usually get only 1 or 2 good quarters a year. The other 2 are pretty useless. You normally hope for a good Q4 when a lot of shopping is gonna be done.

Agreed. This is perfect, Chase with gas in third quarter after Discover had it in second quarter. I just had a 3000 mile trip and two more planned for September. Then in 4th quarter I can switch to Citi Custom Cash for gas.
Restaurants are the worthless category for me. At 5% cash back it means you are only paying 50% higher than actual value.

Resturaunts was GREAT this current quarter. 7% back can't be beat.

Newbie to freedom flex. Don't they count Costco gas under 5% usually?

Problem is Costco only accepts Visa. the Chase Flex is MasterCard
