Is this really that bad? I mean, three of the four categories do suck, but gas is huge. That alone makes it a solid quarter IMHO.
Long time Chase Freedom cardholder here and I gotta say this is gonna be a trash quarter with these options. However, it is hardly a surprise. For Chase Freedom, you usually get only 1 or 2 good quarters a year. The other 2 are pretty useless. You normally hope for a good Q4 when a lot of shopping is gonna be done.

Gas is huge only for people that drive a lot, which varies widely depending on where you live, not to mention remote work from home being very common these days.
Peasants. Get a sports car to paint the town red. Ferrari makes a nice one!
I wish this card or CSP had groceries as a permanent category. I recently picked up the Strata Premier as it gives gas and groceries 4x/3x respectively. Mh chase cards are slowly become I card I less frequent now

Resturaunts was GREAT this current quarter. 7% back can't be beat.
I don't eat at restaurants anymore. Ripoff galore. I just went on a 14 day driving trip and spent $9.34 on food. I brought a travel cooler and travel freezer and all my own food. That frees up so much time and money to enjoy real experiences.
I'm still annoyed I spent the $9.34. There was no reason for it. I succumbed to a Buc-ee's visit in South Carolina and wasted $8.49 on a pulled brisket sandwich with 10% tax.
Is this new? I PC a flex to visa about a month ago.
I think the Chase Freedom closed to new applicants in September, 2020. Did you PC to a Chase Freedom Flex Visa or a Chase Freedom Visa? I'll PC if either option is actually available right now.
Edit: Maybe you PC'd your Flex to a Freedom Unlimited or Freedom Rise Visa?

The flex offers cellphone insurance if you pay your bill with it.
