Been waiting for a good treadmill deal for ages, but hesitant to pull the trigger when it has a 4.2 rating eith a disproportionate amount of 1 stars.

Anyone familiar with these or have recommendations on what to wait for?

A lot of the 5 stars reviews state they received an incentive. That always makes me skeptical and hesitant to purchase.

It's a basic treadmill. Bought it around $1000 in Jan and glad I did as I lost more than 40 lbs in 4 months with zone 2 walk (google it). I would say it's a good investment (to my better health). If you are looking for a basic functional treadmill, go for it and be a better self.

How many hours a week of zone 2 did that take?

I bought the 7.0AT in 2020 during covid. Been using it 4-5 days a week. My cardio has never been better. I run at 8.5mph for 22 mins (5k run) every day and then walk another 25 mins afterwards. 4 years in and no signs of the machine slowing down or wearing out.

I'd buy it again, especially at this price! Though I had 0% interest from the manufacturer for 3 years so that was also worth while.

Unfortunately, my experience wasn't so good. My 18-yr old treadmill had finally died! After researching I thought this was most balanced model with the features that I was looking for and a decent brand name, without any stupid subscriptions. Picked up this model at Dick's local store last week as it was a very good price. Packaging was all good, assembled it the next day and to my dismay, the treadmill would run, slow down, run again. The incline only went up, not down, had to restart to bring it down again. Any speed above 5 miles and the machine just came to a stop! After basic troubleshooting - cables, connectors, etc. called Horizon customer svc. They suspected a faulty main control board. They sent the board and the tech. The guy changed the board, but the problems were still there! Now, they suspected the motor! Imagine, a brand-new unit, out of the box and turns out be a lemon! Spoke to cust svc again and they said they would send a new motor. I declined as I hadn't paid for a refurb unit which it would be by the time it was fixed, without having walked even ten steps on it! DOA! Not sure if the units at Dick's are from a defective lot, as that's the only outlet selling this model at this low price. And BTW, the Horizon rep (and the technician) both confirmed that this was the latest model in the 7.0AT series i.e. 7.0AT-04.

I asked them to replace the unit, and they outright declined! Requested an escalation and didn't even get a call back. Just an email curtly stating that they could only fix the problem by changing the part/s and not replace the whole thing. I had no option but to re-pack everything and haul it back to Dick's. Fortunately, I had saved all the packaging and everything! Else, this was just going to cause me trouble and would have been an eyesore for many years!

I agree this may have been a one-off, but it certainly left me a distaste for the brand! Not going there again. Will try my luck elsewhere with another brand, maybe a Sole or Xterra.

Simple math - it takes 3,500 calories to lose/gain a pound. Zone 2 cardio on a treadmill is 500 calories/ hour. (3,500*40)/500 = 280 hours or about 17 hours per week

How many calories you burn per hour depends on your weight. The heavier you are, the more calories you burn.

Of course - body weight, treadmill speed, incline all influence the actual number. An accurate fitness tracker/smart like the apple watch can help get you in the ball park.
