I tried another data sim from another t-mobile MVNO and that's no go.

There's a soft credit pull at checkout. Each person/address is limited to 2 metro devices. Dealing with metro can be a great pain cause their cs are useless.
But need more data points to be sure that's the rule.

Either way, this should still be a good device one year from now since its one of their high end devices that gets a few upgrades instead of just one.
