It's very dependent on you specific room layout and needs, but assuming you can correctly position the 4 height speakers to match Dolby's recommendations, I think most people would say that 5.1.4 is preferred over 7.1.2 for Atmos content. Basically 7.1.x is marginally better than 5.1.x, but x.1.4 is significantly better than x.1.2.

My Denon 3301C has just died, flashing light of death. Yes its from 2010. Would this be a good replacement. I have a 7.1 setup with Projector.

220 W/Ch?????
I wonder how they worked them numbers because an amp that can truly pump out 220W per channel would be the size of a generator. [mcintoshlabs.com]

2 channels driven and probably max wattage, not RMS.

Is it worth it to upgrade my AVR-X1500H to this receiver? My setup is 5.1.2.

Is this overkill to use for my deck speakers (2). Right now I have a very old HK receiver being controlled by Harmony and an echo dot. I have to use harmony app to turn on, then I can stream music to it via my echo dot. I also have an old Chromecast audio connected to it but use the echo more.

Still have a 1st generation HDMI receiver from 2007. I should probably wait for one that's HDMI 2.1 for my next "forever" receiver.
