Works well, but is potentially concerning for health. Older versions contained forever chemicals like PFAS and newer versions have something similar.

It is a reasonable article but misses something critical when discussing the toxicity of a substance -- the dose/concentration. Lots of things you eat every day are in contact with are toxic to some level, but you are fine because the amount is so small that it end up not mattering. The same thing applies here. The only thing this article mentions is "contains PFAS" or not, not how much, which is ... not particularly helpful.

For context, red meat is classified as a Group 2A carcinogen. Think about that.

That's true but when dealing with chemicals that have a very long halflife in the body, like forever chemicals, you have to consider that the concentration in your body will likely continuously increase over time as you keep getting exposed. So you don't just look at the potential concentration from this one exposure but a lifetime.

Also saying "Group 2A carcinogen" is misleading. Red meat is a group 2A agent, which means probable carcinogen. You wouldn't say "Group 4 carcinogen" when group 4 is "probably not carcinogenic."

I think these are $14 before coupon at Costco. Don't recall with coupon it is like $10 or so.

We stopped buying the green color Glide from Costco for this reason. We just but waxed dental floss and it feels so much better anyhow.

So basically they are using plumbers tape as floss. It is probably cheaper to grab a roll at Home Depot then.

Thanks so much. Only wish they produced less waste making this (huge cardboard packaging and the plastic case)

Thanks for the info. The report mentioned that they're using PTFE now. It's still potentially concerning, but Wikipedia mentions that that substance is supposed to be stable below 500 °F, so hopefully anything it might do to the body isn't too bad. I wouldn't be surprised if it gets in and builds up anyway though :/

Thanks OP. Coupon worked. Came out to $8.14 total before tax. Not sure why it was under $10.
