Port your main number to Google Voice. Then you can take advantage of every phone deal without losing your main number.

Then you go to renew a plan it's at a much higher rate

As a counter to this, if you do any amount of texting, don't do this. The google voice app is pretty ass and you can't use RCS with it. Also some apps will not let you use 2FA with it (chatgpt and lots of dating apps). It's def not worth the inconvenience of not having two numbers on your phone (asking google assistant to send a text and it sends from the wrong number) and dealing with google voice

On amazon, they have the 15gb one for 150 with 30% off, 135 + tax; slightly more if you want extra 5gb
That's not 30% off though.

GM announced they will not include support for Apple car play and Android Auto. Instead they will have their own car software product to lock features behind paywall and/or track your locations information to sell.
That's on GM. GV works just fine on Android Auto which is supported by the vast majority of newer model head units. Tesla also doesn't have Car Play/Android Auto. It's one of the reasons I didn't buy one.

Anyone know how long these plans can go without being activated? I think Red Pocket had like 90 days or 6 months before they wouldn't work anymore.

Someone else asked about whether this would work for a tablet. Similar question: anyone able to make it work for a Samsung watch6 LTE? I have free T-Mobile lines which I used to able to make work with them older watches, but now you need a wearable plan. My kid has a watch6 and I want a standalone line w/o a phone.

Bigger issue is if this company stays alive for a year
I have been using the infinite mobile for about 4 months, so far so good, no complaints.

Had a horrible experience transitioning to infimobile.

Switched from tello. The tello reps bent over backwards trying to help with things even though we were leaving their service.

Infimobile didn't seem to have a clue what was going on. After almost a month of failing to port my number, i called their tech support. Your typical Indian run place with little actual help.

The end result was wasting over a month on the failed port and taking a new number. I almost cancelled the service right then and there.

Since the Porting fiasco everything has worked perfectly. Seems that is the story with infimobile. As long as yoy don't need their tech support, you should be ok.
They have a bring your number option. Did that not work ?

Just FYI we activated on 6/30.

Visual Voicemail doesn't seem to activate, and notifications for normal voicemail are not consistent (i.e. we got a notification when a VM was left when the phone was on, but a new VM that was left when phone was off never sent a notification).

I've been working with them a couple of days, at first they said they needed to activate VVM on their end and it would be 24 hours, but 3 days later it still isn't working despite them telling me they have "confirmation it was active.

I'll report back if they get it working, but if you are dependent on VVM or just VM in general, you might have issues.
What phone?

I guess this is more of a general question, but I figure $100 for a year isn't too bad for a backup number.

Will I be able to port out the number while I'm still on the plan, since it's prepaid for a whole year.
In case a better deal comes along that requires me to bring more than a single number.

If I do port the number out, will I get a new one for the remaining time?

Yeah my biggest fear is that they bork up something when I'm trying to port out, and I lose my number.

There was speculation in the last thread about whether this was another cash-grab + go out of business scam.
In the past, how long do companies like this stick around? 6 months? 18 months? What part of the scam timeline are we currently in? I think it's some Indian company, or Indian-connection, so I don't think there's going to be much consequence.
i think they've offered 6 months for about the same monthly cost before, fwiw
Yep, just enough to look at app screenshots in Apple Store. Some Indian developer was too lazy to spot check and strip his test account handle and names.

any new phone suggest to buy that fits most network?
1. https://www.qualcomm.com/media/do...and-5g.pdf page 4
Notice the first two lines , 4g and 5g bands for each region.

Those are for all carriers in that region, but you'll want to check with each carrier which 4g and 5g bands are currently in use.

2. https://www.droid-life.com/2022/0...t-tmobile/

This is a quick unofficial usa chart

3. Gsmarena "phone finder" and check the boxes for the common frequencies used by the carriers you want.

Not every band needs to be supported.
E.g. If you have a phone for use on t-mobile usa, you don't need 4g bands 2, 4, 12, etc. Usually, only the major bands like 2 is all you'll need for passing coverage, not great coverage.

4. No phone on the planet supports Everything.

5. Typically, when you see a phone with dozens and dozens of bands in gsmarena.com specs, that's a good one to look at closer. A dozen or fewer, pass.

Eg good https://m.gsmarena.com/sony_xperi...-11838.php

Eg poor https://m.gsmarena.com/t_mobile_r...-11938.php

6. Samsung Galaxies, iPhones, Xperias are some that support more bands.
