If you intend to leave these outside year round, just spend the money for HDPE or Polywood. They're waterproof and show basically no signs of wear after being left in the elements year round. Just blast off the dust with your hose and that's your only maintenance.

It's about double to triple the price of this deal but it'll last basically forever and the peace of mind is worth every penny. Buy once cry once

No wooden chair is waterproof. They can be treated to be water resistant via paint, stain, and/or sealant. The brown one is already stained. The natural wood one is, well, natural wood. Either way, I'd recommend treating them yourself upon receipt if they're going to live outdoors b/c the factory stain on outdoor furniture at this price level is never very good. You'll need to repaint/stain/seal every couple years to insure long life.

See above.

Seriously? Just LOOK at the picture. If you can't figure this out for yourself, how do you even tie your shoes in the morning?

The Brown Stained chair isn't often on sale; was a Popular deal last year at $78.

We bought a version of these from Home Depot in 2011 made from pine. We've had them outside year round. We've stained them with deck stain every few years and occasionally have had to repair screws. Only this year have we decided that they are past their prime. But I think the key was staining them with the deck stain.

Since the description says 'solid pine wood,' pine is a softwood, not a hardwood. If you stain anything, they'll last but you 100% have to make sure it's dry and and you use the correct one. Otherwise, you'll end up with something that's sticky and clings to your clothes.

Not gonna completely disagree with hdpe or plywood but want to share my experience. Got a couple of polywood chairs a few years back and paid extra. They held up well to sun and rain. But wind absolutely destroyed them. Live in Colorado where it is fairly dry and this made them brittle. Wind storm here threw them across the deck and they literally shattered into pieces. The wood ones we were hanging on to also had damage but it was repairable (separated joints and cracks). Folks in different climates likely have better outcomes. I've since decided for myself to get the cheap wood ones when they come on sale and replace when they give out. Usually giving them a coat of deck stain when I first get them, helps them to last.

No matter what kind of chair I get, if they are left outside year round, they need to be tightened (screws, bolts) at least once a year.

Thanks for the reminder, looks like this was a slickdeal in May for $57 and it never shipped. It's been stuck in the delayed state since.
