$60 with trade in. Decent deal, but you get what you pay for with this tablet.

So this is my issue... FINALY tablet prices have fallen low enough to compete with Fire tablets.

FOR $90
You can get an HeadWolf Fpad5...
Which has these specs....
1. G99
2. 8GB of RAM
3. 128 GB Hard Drive
4. Android 14, super clean.
5. Zero Bloatware
6. 4 Speakes
7. Micro Sd Slot
8. Decent Screen (Maybe the Fire tablet has a slightly better one but who cares)

OK... Why would you buy a FireHD tablet when you can get a HeadWolf Fpad 5 for $90.00 on Amazon?

I am seeing $180 for this on Amazon. Where do you see $90?

I am waiting for a good deal on the iPlay 50 Mini Pro as it is supposed to have a much better display than the fpad5 according to someone on reddit. They have both tablets and said that the fpad5's display is washed out in comparison to the iPlay.

The Fire HD 10 has a much brighter display than the iPlay 50 though (420nits vs 320), so it will work much better than the iPlay in brighter areas. Can't get everything in a small tablet unless you spend $300+ on a Lenovo Y700 or the iPlay Mini ($400).

I saw that as well. It meets the specs except it does not have the Helio G99 processor. Instead it has a Unisoc octa-core T606. No idea how the performance differs between the two.

Works out to $35 after trade-in for a Fire 8 Plus HD, 32gb, 2020 release.

Thoughts on the difference in processor? Both have 3gb of ram.

Looking for an inexpensive tablet that at this time would be strictly used for kid movie watching in the backseat of the car (blu ray rips). Was considering the Fire HD 10, but wasn't sure if a Fire would be ideal for this. I noticed these Headwolf tablets have 1920x1200 screens instead of 1920x1080, wouldn't the 1200 screens result in black bars at the top and bottom of the screen for movie watching?

This is the lowest price on the Fire HD 10 (2023) version so far. With 20% off for a trade in, it comes down to $60 and depending on the value of your trade-in, the final price will be under $50.

As others have mentioned, if you are not trading in an older Fire HD tablet, other pure android tablets may be a better buy in the $100 price range.

G99 is almost 50% faster (if the G99 is 100%, the T606 is 70%). It's not particularly close.

Walmart has the Hpad5 for $150, direct from Headwolf, shipped in about two days: https://www.walmart.com/ip/2024-L...5143164737

Got one yesterday with a 2017 HD7 trade-in. It is way faster than the 2017 version of course. OS runs ok, can watch BDRip from my home NAS w/o problem. Insert a 128SD card, the tablet can take it as an 'internal' storage. Pretty nice. installed google play, and a video player.

It will be great if a working hack pops up. Anyway, for about 55+tax, it is good for mother-in-law to watch youtube and movies.

Both mentioned tablets are 1920x1200.
It depends on movie's aspect ratio, but yes, most of the times you will have some quarter inch black bars for any 16:9 movie, even larger if movie aspect is ultrawide.
You can also use a player like VLC and use its "Fill screen" feature to get rid of the bars while cutting a bit from edges... but since you mentioned "kid movie", I'm not seeing this as an issue!
