Pixel 7s are great phones, but they are on a much shorter software support cycle than Pixel 8 (and probably 9). Pixel 7 runs out in 2025/2027; Pixel 8 runs out in 2030/2031.

Pixel 7 also lacks 5G band "n70" on AWS-4: a critical omission for Dish Wireless 5G (i.e. Boost Mobile). Pixel 8 has n70.

Was interested in this until I saw the battery life. Google really shouldn't have gone with Samsung/Exynos for the Tensor. My LG V60 gets fantastic battery life since it's using a TSMC Snapdragon. Until Google gets off the Samsung process battery life will always be awful.

Mom needs a new phone to replace her Pixel 4A. She got an email from Google that the Pixel 8 can be had for $499 for her. I was thinking about getting that for her. Thoughts on the 7 pro vs the 8 for $100 difference?

For some reason, trade in was the same regardless of phone memory for me.

If she doesn't need the extra zoom camera and doesn't need a larger phone, I'd go with the 8 if it's only $100 more. I have the 7 pro and I'm a fan of it but some people have stated that they have modem issues which can make cell reception shoddy at times. I don't seem to have those issues though. If the extra zoom camera and larger size are wanted, the 7 pro is still a great phone IMO.
