I don't know why this color isn't getting over, but that's a great price on that guitar - can't even get one used at that price.

Can you check with your Adorama contacts Iconian please? I think they meant to mark this purple people eater special down to 600, not just the gold top: https://www.adorama.com/evh107701598.html

Also, in case anyone wondering, here is the guitar dude on youtube that kills it with EVH riffs doing a short review along with a comparison to the standards (tldr special has FRT-1000 FR bridge with D-Tuna, upgraded pots, top carve and no belly cut, while the standard has FR Special bridge with no D-Tuna, belly cut and no real top carve): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHd5jhR8Fhw

The satin surf green model is also on sale, which unfortunately enough is why I ended up biting on this deal.

I got the satin surf green. Like half the price of the chlorine burst I wanted. But couldn't be happier. The Floyd sits on the body so idk why more people don't bite on these. They're fantastic and much less hassle than the floating version, which I have on other guitars. They feel much smaller/shorter than a Strat even though they're really not. Easy af to play.

Any reason why the base price on gold is like $50 more?

It's been a long while since I've played a Floyd. I liked the idea of being to pull up on the bar so I was a little bummed to read that this is on the body. How much does a floating Floyd mess with things?

Opinions on which you would go for? This deal or the Charvel Pro-Mod Green Glow deal at the same price?

I was close to getting the Charvel, then this popped up. It looks like the Charvel is a super deal marked down from $1299.

End of the day I'd ask yourself which one you're more likely to pickup, both seem like great guitars at this price. EVH has the d-tuna, Charvel has awesome seymour duncan pickups. Couldn't hurt to check out YouTube reviews.

I've been having the same debate for the past few weeks that these have been on sale...my brain says the Charvel (limited edition/truly unique body, fully floating floyd rose, split coil humbuckers) but my heart says the Wolfie (unique body, EVH special sauce, d-tuna, etc) - was thinking about the surf green but liked the ebony fretboard, so pulled the trigger on this after the price dropped...getting back into guitar after playing a lot during my teenage years, so my first ever *new* guitar and my first guitar in nearly 20 years, couldn't be more excited.

Thanks - I am tending toward the Charvel, but the main thing holding me back, I am reluctant to say, is the green glow color. The color doesn't do much for me ( and others I suppose, since it is the only one on sale!) on the other hand, the EVH - both green snd the gold are beautiful.

The other aspects and features I think the Charvel may suit me as I progress ( I'm a newbie, but have more time now and I am committing to improving in the next year or two). I'll likely go for the Charvel since it may be easier for me to play at this stage, and it just seems like such a killer deal.

This. They can't give those charvels away. I've been getting emails for glow green for like a year. 🤣

Curious what features you see in the Charvel that would better support you than the EVH?

Mostly I am thinking the thinner neck might be better for me now, and the ability to more easily swap put pickups may come in handy.

But i am no expert and have never laid hands on either!

I think if you really find one looks a lot better than the other then go with it, short of playing them both the differences are kind of marginal otherwise IMO. If one of my guitars was just butt ugly to me compared to others I'd probably rarely play it.

I hear what you are saying - I'm trying to see if it looks like it would grow on me. The one thing I think really make sense to me at this point is the thinner neck.

Decisions, decisions...
