None of these are deal-breakers, but this system is notably:

- A little loud/vibrates while in use
- 1:1 clean to dirty water usage. For $80 more, you can get 2:1
- 400 GPD is really slow. Again, for $80 more you get 600 GPD. Neither are particularly fast though.

Here's another option at $279: https://www.amazon.com/Waterdrop-...08746G2XX/

I have it, you need an electrical connection (120v) but is way better than needed to wait for water. 3 years with mine and so far very good.

The tank type is slower — but that's why they have a tank! You pull a glass or pitcher of water from the pressure tank quite quickly, and it slowly starts refilling. I never have to wait for water from my tank system, unless I fill a couple of gallon jugs.

Filters are much much much cheaper on the under the sink tank systems. Another commenter said these filters are $90! I replace stage one a lot more often for only a couple of bucks per change, and the rest of the filters last a lot longer. Entire replacement sets might be $30, and the TDS are single digits.

I'd vote for the under the sink system with a tank, every day, at this price. I went with a "nuaqua" system with an extra stage to re-mineralize the water. Not in city water? I'd recommend an extra UV stage, too.

Just my two cents.

Sorry for my naive question. Is this only for drinking water? If so, isn't the water dispenser on the refrigerator enough? I'd like to install this device on kitchen sink to get purified water for cooking, but this one doesn't seem to have a spray head, so not a good idea?
Reverse osmosis v a fridge filter are just two different ball parks and not super comparable.
We use our water drop for drinking water and for any water required for cooking. We largely don't use our fridge filter. It's far more effective than a refrigerator filter in removing pfas, lead etc and will have more certifications for filtering. We've been very happy with ours, it's more expensive but we feel it's worth it esp with kids.

Thanks for the suggestion. Haven't done any research yet...is there a water filter system that is considered the best, regardless of cost?
Some of the higher end models will include a UV light etc, I'd take a look at water drop's website.

Any idea what the total dissolved solids are for the output? Looking to use for marine aquarium
We have a slightly higher-end model from the same manufacturer, our tds right now is 9. I see it vary between 5-14.

First 20sec the TDS is over 100. After that it is around 50ish. The tank type is much lower, but this is faster if you need a lot at once.

Yes only for drinking water. This system will get contaminants out of your water that your fridge filter won't. For example- flouride.
That's a deal killer.

1:1 pure to drain is quite inefficient. But that's what a lot of under the counter systems are rated at. Some even worse than that. Meaning, for every gallon of fresh filtered water it creates, it wastes 1 gallon of water down your drain. Your water bill will go up for sure. I prefer countertop reverse osmosis systems. They have 3:1 ratios (3 gallons fresh water to 1 gallon wasted).

Yeah I realized the need for the outlet and the expensive replacement filters after I bought it.

Had this one (Old Reliable) at my previous house which doesn't require an outlet, and provided perfect water.

Flouride isn't always a contaminant, it's purposely introduced into the water to help the population with dental health. At least in the US for about 3/4 of the country.

The water outlet goes through a plastic pipe probably loaded with plasticizers. A countertop unit like the BlueVUA deposits into a glass caraffe with a remineralization filter.

Don't know why the downvotes, that's funny! 😂

The new version coming also filters out antimatter.
