Best bang for the buck earbuds on the market today are Tribit Flybuds 3 (refurbished) for $13 on eBay, direct from Tribit.

My pair has lasted almost 3 years and counting. 100+ hour battery life with charging case. Excellent sound quality.

Others I've tried in the past have typically stopped working in less than a year.

You'll either love them or hate them. These are the only ones that stay in my ears. However, I've been given several of the corded ones with the same shape by people who hated them. For what it's worth, I'm a small woman with, I guess, small ears.

I'm a $20 earbud kinda guy, but at this pricepoint I'm considering them.
Do they get fased-out, discontinued as soon as phones? These are 5 years old after all.

The battery is the only concern for these, depending on when they were manufactured these should be fine. Personally these maybe the cheapest but also the most comfortable of AirPods for long term usage.
