The ones sold at HB has trouble staying firm even at short length. It is soft and floppy. Women don't like it when it's like that.

I don't know about this one and it could be the same. If so then HB is a better deal.

Cheap ones have their place -- I have several stashed around the house in case I need to make a quick measurement of something like a bathmat or whatever random thing my wife wants to replace. However, you want 1-2 good ones for when it matters, like woodworking (or windows, etc.). The difference is night and day.
