Thanks! You see anything about two year warranty that other guy mentioned?
Hisense units come with a 2 year parts and labor warranty, but now that I think about it I'm not sure how that applies for Amazon renewed. He was probably referring to the eBay refurbished warranty.

Don't forget the extra year of warranty from major credit cards!

Not enough air flow.
Only 4 hose for me or no thanks. 4x the "air flow" of a single hose.
In fact, I prefer to cover the entire window with hose, kinda like a window AC does.

My understanding is that the warranty extension only applies to new items.

The Midea 12000 btu ones from the other day on woot said they cooled 350 sq feet, and a 8,000 BTU SACC rating.
Is the Delonghi better at cooling for the same power, or do some manufacturers hyperinflate the cooling capacity?

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency suggests using 20 BTU per square foot. So ~2000 BTU's/100sq ft.

Theres also this to add to the confusion, ASHRAE vs DOE BTUs https://evapolar.com/blog/btu-vs-...de-labels/

eBay certified refurbs come with a 2-year Allstate (SquareTrade) warranty.

From that Hisense eBay listing:

It might depend on your credit card. I know mine also cover refurbished items as well.

Chase Slate says:
What's Not Covered? Items used or pre-owned (refurbished items will not be
considered used or pre-owned if accompanied by a warranty)

Interesting. So if it says only 350 sq feet it cools, and is 12000 btu, it is terribly inefficient?

Edit: Midea Site says 9 CEER rating. Looks to be efficient.

I would say yes. 12000btu should handle way more than 350sq ft.

Why is a single hose not good?
The AC makes your house cooler, right?

The problem with single hose is that it takes that cooled air your AC worked hard on and use it to cool itself. It sucks cool air and expels it outside your house wasting it.

Now your house is a vacuum (negative pressure). This will equalize by sucking hot air from the outside bringing it inside the house. So, you expelled cool air and bring in hot air.

Whatever your AC did was negated.

Yes, you will still feel the cool air effect, but you are wasting way too much energy for this, and you are bringing hot air, dust, pollutants from outside your house. It may sound exaggerated but if your AC is on 24/7, the effect is big.

But you can probably rig this AC and make it a dual hose. It is still probably a good buy if you modify it.

Some, like specific ge models, have an optional dual hose conversion kit as well for purchase.

Mount it sideways. Totally kosher. (Jk!) 😁
