Need to buy a Dyson

Hi All, we have had a Dyson DC33 forever. Last week the beater bar stopped moving and it is not picking anything up. We want to trouble shoot it and get the parts to fix it and keep it for a sweeper for the garage. We are in the market for a Dyson cordless. The more I try to research which model to buy, the more I get confused. It seems like many of them have the feature where you have to hold a button down for it to work. I am 71 and husband is 85. Needless to say, we don't want that feature. Some reviews say that some of the units are heavy and hard to move around. Some say in reviews that batteries go bad easily or have a short running life. Does anyone have a couple of models that they would recommend? It just seems like the more I try to read on this subject, the more roadblocks I run into. Any help would be appreciated!
