Heads up, there is no physical download code and the game is added to the Nintendo account which signs into the Nintendo store on the device first. This makes it difficult, if nearly impossible, to resell the game code to someone else. I gifted this console to a family member who already owned Animal Crossing, and she had a friend set up their Nintendo account on the switch first to redeem the free game, then she deleted the account from the switch and set up her own.

I hate this. Main reason I never bought a Switch. I would gladly pay for their classic NES and SnEs games, but I refuse to pay to rent them indefinitely.

And those poor saps that spend thousands buying all of the classics on Wii only to have them disappear as soon as their internal flash memory corrupts...and it will. Mine did twice. And correct me if I'm wrong...you can't redownload purchased games from Wii any longer as the storefront has been closed. Not sure about the Wiiu. I only have a few digital games on it and the memory hasn't corrupted...yet

What bugs me is that the fishing in Animal Crossing (to me) works so much better with vibration. The Switch Lite doesn't have HD rumble...

Sounds like some weird 3DS era BS. Glad to see Nintendo is still going strong with confusing digital download redemption tactics lol

This is why I play all my retro games on one of the nice emulator handhelds that got really good the last year or two. Ambernic RG35XX and RG405V are the ones I have. They're better than modding official retro Nintendo hardware at this point.

Also, Wii U has a replacement eShop if you hack it. Some purple acorn icon. You can redownload a bunch of old titles for free.

I'd feel bad about it if it wasn't for the fact that Nintendo completely shut down the eShop on Wii U, and the Wii U was during the Nintendo era where digital purchases were tied to the specific hardware you downloaded it on instead of your Nintendo account.

I'm pretty sure everything should continue working (sans any network play) as long as you have your content downloaded. There's also backup support which in theory should let you transplant games if your switch fails.

Exactly. I think I only bought maybe 5-6 digital games on Wii and Wii u combined.

I'm looking at the Retroid Pocket 4 pro and the Abernic ..can't remember which model. I would buy a cheaper one, as NES, SNES are mainly what I want. But, there are a few GameCube games and maybe 1 or 2 PS2 games id want.

The Ambernic RG405V is the one to get then. I prefer the vertical og gameboy form factor.

I've just played GBA and SNES games on it so far, but the larger screen makes it really nice for longer sessions. The larger body also makes it comfortable for adult sized hands.

It runs on Android, so you can put GammaOS onto it, and it can handle the less resource heavy GameCube and PS2 games.
