Heads up, there is no physical download code and the game is added to the Nintendo account which signs into the Nintendo store on the device first. This makes it difficult, if nearly impossible, to resell the game code to someone else. I gifted this console to a family member who already owned Animal Crossing, and she had a friend set up their Nintendo account on the switch first to redeem the free game, then she deleted the account from the switch and set up her own.

You don't need to save it, but activate it, go to the App and go to offers, is right there, anyway expiration date was yesterday.

I hate this. Main reason I never bought a Switch. I would gladly pay for their classic NES and SnEs games, but I refuse to pay to rent them indefinitely.

And those poor saps that spend thousands buying all of the classics on Wii only to have them disappear as soon as their internal flash memory corrupts...and it will. Mine did twice. And correct me if I'm wrong...you can't redownload purchased games from Wii any longer as the storefront has been closed. Not sure about the Wiiu. I only have a few digital games on it and the memory hasn't corrupted...yet
Those are serious downsides for sure and more transparency around commitment to keep bought digital games available is needed.

But it's not all bad. Kids can take their Switch to friends houses, trips, etc., and not have to worry about carry hundreds of dollars worth of physical games. Multiple kids can access the same game without multiple physical copies. No lost or stolen or broken games to worry about.

Good thing is Nintendo usually supports both options so folks can choose. We may soon enter an era where its only digital.

Not sure that I want to order one but have the oled switch at home with two kids who fight over it. But this is a little less than a regular switch. The parental controls I have time limits but it seems by device not user. And they can keep playing after time is up. Do you use the same login account and same digital games on two devices?

If games go all digital id just stop buying. I like to collect and that just would give me zero incentive to buy.

So here is how digital games work on multiple Nintendo devices: The account that purchased the game can access said game on other devices, provided the device can connect to the internet to verify. Secondary accounts can play them on the console that the primary account is tied to, but not on other devices. What that means, if you are anything like me, is that my son must start digital games that I purchased using my account on his Switch Lite. Once the system has checked to see if it has permission to launch the game, then you can turn off the Wifi connection (or not) and play. If the same account is detected playing on two or more devices at the same time, then the most recent login has priority and it will suspend play on the other devices until the other logins have logged out. Which means I cannot play on my account while he is playing a digital game using my account, unless he disables the Wifi or I play on another account on my main Switch.

Does the switch come with a digital code? I got mine and I didn't see any paper with a code.

My main complaint is performance. Disney Dreamlight Valley crashes frequently on the Switch (probably because 4GB RAM isn't enough). One of the reasons I'm not upgrading to OLED. The Tegra X1+4GB RAM is in dire need of an upgrade.

If the Switch had a better chipset and more RAM, I'd prefer to play on that over the Steam Deck (lighter and longer battery life).

No regrets here. Huge library of Switch specific games all top rated.
