Improved in every way, but especially the ANC. That said, whether to upgrade or not probably depends on the battery health of your current pair. I wouldn't upgrade unless the batteries on the OGs are shot. It's not like the OG's are garbage, just that the 2s are truly improved.

1st gen was garbage. Left ear get static after awhile. Took them in to Apple to get it fixed. They replaced it. Couple months later, same shiet happened, static. And now left earpiece died on me, WTF.

For me the fact that I can turn the volume up and down by just swiping the earbud was my favorite improvement. Also anc is noticeably better.

Well seems like you just had bad luck -- had similar recurring issues with the OG AirPods and AirPods 2s -- did the return, repeat thing many times, likely because they didn't have any water resistance and I wore them running. But the AirPods 3s, OG and Gen 2 APPs have been solid for me from a functional perspective, haven't had to take them in once.

This is exactly what Target told me as well today because I paid 199.99 last week. However, Amazon has these on sale for 199.99 last week and Target did do a price match for me for "Amazon Prime" price....so weird.
