its not about brightness. Its about colors. they look terrible in these low quality screens. You can do better at even this price point.
Likely I will upgrade again to get a brighter screen for prime day or BF. The specs are great. I would have gone with the intel, as it has better monitor connectivity. But it did not have a num pad.
The screen is better on the Plus, but I think the CPU is better and more efficient (10nm vs 4nm), the memory is faster and upgradable, and the integrated graphics are much better on the Ryzen 7 8840U for $50 less:
Choice depends on your needs; I think both are good deals, particularly with the Amex offer. Cheers
You are forgetting bigger battery {6 cell vs 4 cell) and better build quality on the plus. Plus, the higher resolution will be noticeable on a 16" screen.
I purchased this the last time OP posted the deal, for my girlfriend's business. Her administrative assistant really likes this computer, a good, basic laptop with enough speed and specs for the business tasks she needs, including some basic video rendering (1080p). Good build quality too. With Amex $105 credit, which I received shortly after the charge posted on my account, and 10% new Dell account signup code, the final price was $435 plus tax. Excellent bang for the buck. Thanks again OP.
Did they require signature when delivered? I cannot find this info anywhere... So I'm assuming UPS will just leave the package?
This model was on the short list for my kiddo's college laptop, but it was still $799 at the time. I ended up getting an HP Pavilion Plus 14. Same CPU/iGPU, but with a nice 14" OLED screen. If this was $599 at the time I was looking, I probably would have got this Dell. The 780M iGPU isn't half bad if you don't set your expectations too high. You should be able hit 60fps at 1080p with settings turned down.
This is an excellent deal. The ram seems upgradable too. Some people mention having a trouble with the Wi-Fi, but you should be able to replace the card with an Intel one if needed.
With 10% CB and an Amex offer, hard to beat this in terms of performance / price ratio.
Does using the 10% sign up coupon invalidate the cashback, as most cashback sites say use of a coupon not on their site will invalidate the cashback?

coupons never invalidate CB sites for me. Now I was worried that I might not get my amex offer, but it posted, and glad I got a good deal on the AMD
BTW: It is an IPS monitor right? It says so on this titles thread, but not on the Dell site.

Yes, Dell refers to IPS as WVA (wide viewing angle)
For those who know these things, I signed up with Dell earlier but it is Friday evening. Might the code come Saturday morning or am I waiting until Monday? Thanks in advance.(I am adjusting my expectations accordingly.)

Not going to matter. I swear fate doesn't want me to have this laptop:
UPS had it out for delivery, and then I had a problem with delivery "couldn't verify address, will fix it, and redeliver. I spent 30 minutes trying to figure out how to get hold of a rep from UPS, no luck.
Now it says return to sender.
Dear god, what the hell? I am going to have to reorder this thing again, get a new code, have my amex offer reset, and hopefully CB is still good.

With Dell, I've never been denied of a cashback because of a coupon I used. Some cashback sites might, though.

That would remedy the hdmi 1.4 situation
