I prefer these over the other ones. These are much easier to see from different angles. And yes, you're right about the battery type. But you can easily hack these with cheap AA battery cases from LED string lights you can find at the dollar store. I bought 6 of these on a previous deal and modified them all. They may not be esthetically pleasing to some, but i like them, and the batteries will last for a longer time. Plus, the way I midified mine prevent them from falling all the time when they are not mounted to a surface. Here's a link to some pictures so you can get an idea of what I did.
