SQ makes some of, if not the most, reliable machines on the market. They are often used in laundromats and other high use environments.

Speed Queen is one of the most reliable and strongest machines. However they aren't designed to be lookers or show-stoppers in a laundry room which is what a lot of the market is. Simple. Strong. Serviceable (should you need it)

I've heard they are THE most reliable USA built machines on the market.
They are commercial units built extremely well and if taken care of will outlast you.

Laundromats have tons of them breakdown all the time.... They are commercial but i really can't say they are worth this price
Consider how badly abused they go through every day all day long. How many loads do you do a week? Do you overstuff and abuse your machines? Even when the laundrymat has to fix them, the fix is easy. That is why consumers they last 20 years.
I have one at home that is 20 years and yet to call a repairman to look at it. Plus you can actually fill the tank up with water to gwt a real clean to your clothes.
You want quality, this is for you. Dont waste money on junk in 2 years you have the repair man over all the time.

I would have to agree. Same price or less if you google the brand and compare prices. Same for local, shop around. Prices do vary between shops

When the delivery men set up my SQ's years ago, they remarked how they'd always get repair calls for Samsung washer/dryers but never an SQ. "It's the only brand I'd buy" they said.

Our SQ 82 model (AWNE82) with electronic board is still humming along after 7 years with any issues (knock on wood). This brand is solid in my opinion and would be top on our list for replacement options if ours were to fail.

No one is gonna point out the issues with shipping and customer service with Greentoe? Check out TrustPilot and BBB just to be sure.
Oh please...Greentoe is fine. Plenty of good review on Trustpilot and the BBB is hilariously useless.

I was looking for a top load washer with agitator, stainless steel tub, and manual water level settings when I replaced my 20+ year old Amana top load. After much research, I went with the GE GTW325ASWWW for $500. It's mostly "old-school" except for an optional water sensing "feature" that I never use. I'm happy with it so far after 4 years.

Reviews on that unit do not seem great.

"It is really loud and bouncy, and there is a lot of warranty claim under 5 years. But hey it's cheap !!"

Water is never going to become too scarce because we can already create more fresh water by desalination. The issue is cost, but as alternative energy sources become more efficient and widespread even that is likely to be held in check.
Do either of you know if I would be able to wash lights and darks together in this thing?

Pretty sure I saw this exact set given away 65 years ago on the old TV show "Queen for a Day"

Still trying to figure out why iconian doesn't think the rebate applies to the tc5. It might not mention it on the form but if you go and actually submit the rebate you get $100 back.

Heavy agree. I have a front load speed queen and is about to hit 10 years. Brand is expensive but worth it.

Reviews for washing machines (and dryers) in general are all over the place. This was the only one that met my main criteria of top load with agitator, stainless steel tub, and manual water level settings. Mine is not super quiet but it's solid so far. Considering the lower quality of current appliances, I'll be happy if I get 10 years out of it.

Couple points, 1. desalination works with salt water so location and transport is an issue (and adds associated costs) 2. scarcity also includes an individual's (or industries) lack of resources to buy commodities so exhorbitant COST does make a resource scarce.

I believe they have the old fashion manual controls. No electric boards to go bad.
It's a circuit board behind the knob controls. I thought the same about being mechanical but found out from our sales rep the control board was the same as the TC7x series that has a digital screen a few years ago when we bought our set. Something about energy savings regulations….

For anyone shipping there is a chance the front panel of the washing machine will be bent. We got ours from a local dealer and they had a new front panel with them on the truck as if they anticipated they would have to replace it and sure enough they did. The machine is 200lbs of pure metal. No cinderblocks or concrete to weigh it down like cheap brands do. There isn't much space between the drum and the front panel so a little movement while shipping can bang the panel enough to dent it outward. Just a FYI.
