Tried the S22u, s23u and s24u and went back to s21u pretty much no difference. Maybe Samdung will actually make a real phone with the S25 but I am not holding my breath.
I've got the S21U and the only one I'd consider is the S23U. I've heard bad things about the chipset in the S22U. The S24U they dropped the 10x optical zoom which is a huge reason I bought the S21U. I'd love to see the standard S25 make the jump to a 5x zoom for a smaller form factor with a bigger zoom. 3x is the current standard for pretty much all "small" handsets.

How can you do that?
There are package disabler apps. Or you can connect to PC via cable and do it though ADB. Lots of info on that online. Xda developers website is a good resource

Just a heads up - my son's ultra 21 5g was sent an update last week by Samsung to go to UI 6.1. Now his touch screen will not work and the phone has become a paperweight until Samsung releases a new update that fixes the problem. They have yet to even acknowledge the issue, instead just telling people affected to take it to a service center and get a new screen installed. It's a well known issue and many many people were affected by it.

I don't know if this happened on all Galaxy models but I am very hesitant to buy another Samsung because of this. Many people on their forums have said they have a replacement screen and that might have caused the issue, but my son's phone was bought brand new. Either way, just be careful. There is no fix for the American version of the s21. Again not sure if other models of the Galaxy are affected.
Ah ha! that's what happened to my Galaxy Note 8 in the last update, I thought something just broke internally since I didn't make any changes to my settings. The S pen still works because it's using a different sensor. I need to call and complain that their latest updated bricked my touchscreen!!!

They haven't even acknowledged that their update broke phones - they likely don't care. You can try to call but they will just tell you to replace the screen at their repair shops (at your expense of course).

S22 series was garbage. S23 and S24 both very solid.
What's wrong with the S22? Just curious, as someone who's looking to buy a new phone.

I have S23U, wife has S24U (both got in on the release deals with Fi that were amazing).

While I've got her at 10X and beyond, her phones kicks the crap out of mine in that intermediate 5x-9.99x range. I mean slaughters mine.

If you shoot mid telephoto a fair amount, the S24U is absolutely an upgrade. At long telephoto, slight to moderate edge to the S23U.

8 Gen 1 chipset was a dumpster fire. Samsung did a poor job in fabricating, it ran very hot, and the power draw was enormous.

Best video I've seen describing exactly why.

I've always heard it's the first gen chipset. Runs hot, poor battery, that sort of thing. Having the S21U the S22U never caught my eye anyway. There isn't enough change year to year anymore like there once was.

I'm not sure the truth in this statement but this is how I interpret it at least. On my S21U the only actual optical zoom is at 1x, 3x, and 10x. Anything outside of that is zoom plus digital enhancements. I think the S23U still has that same zoom setup. The S24U is 1x, 3X, 5X. So that would make sense that it's better from 5x to 9.99x as it's using its 5x zoom lens + digital vs 3x plus digital.

That's correct.

5X-9.99X is digital zoom off either the main sensor, or the low res 3X sensor on the S21-S23.

With the S24U, there's that 50MP sensor at 5X optical, and digital zoom from there.

Obvious advantage to the S24U in that range.

Be careful with the s22 series it has a known green line issue after a big update due to the motherboard getting too hot. Samsung rarely addresses it and will tell you to pay for a new screen.

i have this phone, it's great, but i'm sick and tired of Samsung keeps pushing garbage updates (like one ui 6.1)
huh? I love the updates with making it very smooth. iPhone killer camera on the S22 Ultra. No weird skin tones and lots of fine detail.
