Nespresso is different from a regular espresso machine because they're specific pods carefully designed by Nespresso to achieve a certain flavor profile (and they're very good). A google search will show that the ideal pressure for brewing a shot of espresso is between 7-11 bar, however this is a very subjective topic and why espresso/coffee is so fun and versatile. Also having a 20bar machine doesn't mean you'll always be brewing at 20 bars of pressure. I just means the pump is capable of producing that amount of pressure. You can adjust with grind size and tamp pressure to play around with extraction to find what you like. There's really no right way to brew espresso, only the way you like it.

Figured I'd go through the reviews at Best buy since there's a lot of speculation on here. So it seems like there were some faulty units out of the box which people could have just returned but left one star reviews anyway. And then there's some other reviews that seem mostly like user error. And then there's an overwhelming majority of excellent reviews for the unit. including one that says you can use many styles of coffee, I can't speak to the truth of that you can buy espresso ground if buying a $200 grinder is a deal breaker for you. another customer compares it to his much more expensive breville machine and says it's just as good. also another customer says that he is drinking coffee daily of all types for basically his entire life and he finds this unit to produce a great quality brew.

personally I don't mind taking a chance for 30 bucks.

they even throw in two months of a cooking streaming service for free lol.

Are you suggesting 20 bars is a lot of pressure or a little pressure?

Just purchased this... it's absolute trash... difficult to use.... not all stainless steel as claimed. And the frother is garbage and doesn't froth anything. Gonna drop it off tomorrow to return even if it's $30 I guess you get what you pay for

Amazon has an entry level espresso machine for $30. This is the one I bought for my wife 8 weeks ago. She's the drinker, not I, she said the frother could be better but even so this is the best cup of coffee she's made at home. Again, first ever home espresso experience but she's hit it for 1 cup a day for 8 weeks. At what point does she buy in head over heals for the home espresso experience? IDK, but she's happy with her current experience, nobody tell her about the $500 & $1000 machines please.

Thank you, OP

Got one at $30.00, Important to follow instructions under "Before Using Machine For The First Time" on page 10 of the manual. Need to do this to clean the machine and to get rid of the chemical taste felt in my first cup of espresso.
For $30.00 this thing is good.
How has it been since cleaning? No more chemical taste?

Mine took about 20 or so presses of the double before getting there. It didn't seem like anything was going on, I was a touch nervous. Anyhow, made a 11g ish and 16g double pull (because you can vary depending on the flavor you enjoy after all), I'm more than pleased given the extreme expenditure involved, lol.

Yes. It took a while. Inside tank is big so it takes time.

Mine arrived today. I tried to follow the first time instructions but nothing came out when trying steam or make a cup. Looks like the instructions didn't include the part where you have to manually prime the pump. I saw a person suggest lifting the water tank off and on 40 times or until the bubbles stop. I did it more than 40 less than 100 and the bubbles got smaller but kept coming. I gave up and ran a double and water actually came out but not enough. I ran the double again and it poured the correct amount. I purged the steam and then ran the tank dry pressing the double. Refilled the tank and made a pretty good cappuccino for my first attempt. Like the espresso, you need to wait for the steam light to stop blinking after button press to work as intended. Tasted great and was pretty quick even for a noob.
