I will say that you should test this right when you get it under significant load. The one I bought worked fine under light load but doing the main thing I bought it for, it wouldn't Jack up.

Another thing folks could do is see if anyone has a USA made jacks on Craigslist or Facebook. Lots of them can be had for free.

I picked up a milk crate packed with USA made bottle jacks that were all frozen.

Got them for free and started rebuilding. Kits for most manufacturers are still available.

Parker and Walker and Werner in that crate.

Fun to rebuild then refinish. They bring good money as well.

Depends on how low your car sits and if you can get it under.

Good deal. The 12 ton seems like a great deal for $23.00, too!

No. You are going to want a standard Jack.

Probably not. Maybe if your car is a truck that has enough height for this to fit under as well as a flat enough spot of stout metal for the little round top of this jack to securely engage with.

The scissor jacks that come with most cars are usually the best option for roadside emergencies. And a floor jack for home maintenance.

The scissor jacks that came with my car collapsed because I was on a little bit of a grade when my tires went flat.

Not sure what I should replace it with other than another cheap scissor jack and hope for flat ground when I need it

These bottle jacks are going to be worst for any unlevel ground. For my car, i got heavy duty scissor jacks made for SUVs. Handles more weight and has a bigger base. You still want the ground to be as level as possible, but it has more leeway. Get a ratchet for the jack as well, it makes it much easier to lift.

All the cheap floor jacks i have purchased, have leaked. Need to spend a lot more for a reliable one.

FYI, if you're a Harbor Freight member (Inside Track club), they have the 12-ton Pittsburg bottle jack on sale for $25.

Other than expensive inflatable air bladders, there aren't many jack styles that work well on a grade and a bottle jack this would be among the worst of them.

SUV sized is a good idea will probably suck to stow it, though, lol

serious question: What are these good for, i.e. acceptable to use given the tipping over risk? I keep the OEM scissor jacks in my cars, and have 2 floor jacks for home repairs. I can't figure out a use case for these bottle jacks on my own
