This is not a good product, even if you use distilled water the water wick it uses immediately gums up and doesn't humidify. Get a Levoit ultrasonic humidifier and save yourself some hassle and continuous upkeep with not having to buy water wicks

Elaborate?
ultrasonic will aerosolize any minerals like calcium carbonate in your hard water creating a film of white dust on surfaces nearby. it will also aerosolize anything "living" in the water tank, which is why most should use a bacteriostatic solution too.
wick based humidifiers mitigate both issues and risks, and as long as let you let your wick based unit run completely dry maybe once a month, the desiccation of the wick surface will kill anything living in your tank and extend the usable life of each wick.
i would recommend checking if any humidifier you buy has third party source wick makers such as BestAir, as they make better aluminum reinforced wicks than the original manufacturers, because the original maker incorporates too much design obsolescence as he profit motivated wants your wick to disintegrate faster so you need to replace it more often.

What if you use RO water for ultrasonic humidifiers?
