I have had to reboot the Hisense before
It would not respond to any controls/input

Never any operational issues with the Samsung

The Hisense is definitely brighter than the Samsung and they both control blooming pretty well. The Hisense is very colorful and has very good color saturation, though the Samsung is no slouch here
The picture processing on the Hisense is significantly less competent than the Samsung
Specific picture details are much better on the same Samsung....animal fur, Fleshtones, variation in coloration of hair etc
Lower resolution content is definitely better on the Samsung. The Hisense has pretty narrow viewing angle. Anything more than about 20 degrees off center is going to be subject to brightness and color changes
I would say the Samsung has at least double the viewing angle of the Hisense

All in the Samsung QN90a is just a more refined viewing experience, to my eyes, although it does lose to the Hisense in some categories like HDR brightness
Thanks for your detailed reply. Helps a lot!

Given its the same price at BB and AMZN, which of them has better customer service in case of returns (if TV is damaged or has bands or streaks on the display) and refunds?

If you aren't a habitual returner on Amazon, I think their return process was easy. 2 years ago I ordered a 65" hisense (the flagship) and it arrived with spiderwebbing in the panel. The outside of the box had a big hole (about forklift tine size) and I did a live chat with an amazon person, showed them pics, and then I boxed the tv back up, taped it up, they came and picked it up the next day. I ended up buying from somewhere else.

Is there an issue with newer TV's being slow or laggy? I have an older 32in Samsung that absolutely sucks balls.

Then I have a 50 inch that's 7 years old give or take and it's very responsive.

Thanks! Probably grab a 65 of some sort.

Got the 65" for $500 open box a few months ago. Don't think it'll come back but loving the TV..too bright for my aging eyes but great to have it for movies when needed.

Rtings review of QM851G is not yet public (insider access only ATM).

How does TCL 65QM851G ($1000) v/s Hisense 65U8N ($1000) v/s Sony 65X90L ($1100) v/s Samsung 55QN90C ($900) compare? The first two are high end mini-LEDs from their respective brands while Sony's X90L is an entry level QLED-only but is a Sony product. QN90C is somewhere in between?
Sony X90L doesn't have Quantum dot layer. It's just a Full Array LED TV with local dimming. Their Bravia 7 and Bravia 9 are only the current year models with Quantom dot and Mini LED Tech. Having said that, Sony's processing makes up for the hardware deficiencies in lot of cases.

Still... the X90L produces a better combination of color gamut and color volume than most "QLED" TVs.

Pulled the trigger on the 65", came down to a coin flip for me between this or the U8N...figure either would be a significant upgrade from the 9 y/o Vizio currently in use.

If only this TV had better upscaling + motion for streaming sports on YouTube TV.. I'd buy it instantly. I'm just concerned about that being a dealbreaker for me

That's my thinking as well and why I'm holding out for a u8n deal to drop

*"edit.. 75u8n is 1400 at Amazon and best buy. Currently OOS but can still order. Went ahead and if something comes up, I can cancel or try to price match
The Rtings 2024 QM8 Series Review has released: 8.5/10
FWIW... overall, they rate low-quality content smoothing and upscaling better on the QM8 than the U8N. There are pluses & minuses for each model. Pick your poison...

That's what I mentioned too but my post is about correcting the statement about X90L having Quantum dots or not
