Going to have to do better than that to get most people to buy an old, slow and outdated model with who knows how much life left before Google totally and completely abandons it.

I bought one, but not because it's a good deal. 😂

These screens are one step above abandonware - but it's the ecosystem I'm in... so here we are.

I just like them for the album shuffling features. Beams new photos to the grandparents without having to post it on social media. And with multiple albums it's great

This is actually why I use this. I have set up devices for grandparents and have my photos uploaded to google photo so that they can enjoy updated photos of their grandkids. And of course youtube during dishes Smilie

I switched over to the Google tablet from the nest max.

The max is just terribly slow now. Along with all the smaller nest hubs as well. Every update has taken away features and… somehow… speed.

Every swipe and touch is a 2-3 second wait. I would LOVE to go back to the version that came with the device, because that was great.

i'm as much as a google fanboy as it gets: have(had) every single gen of pixel device (including tablet and earbuds) except 5, and nexus'es, as well as countless other google devices around the house. and I completely agree with this statement.

Came here to ask if it was worth upgrading over the regular hub. I love mine and got if for $50 two years ago. Not sure how much better the Max would have to be to get me to upgrade for double the price .

The nice thing with Google is that if they completely abandon a product they give you a full refund and let you you keep the device atleast. Nest stuff wouldn't fall under this category though because they're Def not killing off their smart home business

Exact same use here - gave to my grandpa so that I could easily beam new pictures.
Somehow the algorithm that these devices use to display pictures is better than non Google branded devices (even if they are integrated with Google)

I might be crazy, but without me doing any editing to the albums it somehow chooses the best pictures, and also is set to only show pictures with certain people in it, and doesn't send him a bunch of scenery pictures that I take but no one else would be interested in seeing.

It's really too bad that google seems to be very slowly abandoning this ecosystem though, as I have invested quite a bit in it.

We use the small one and the Lenovo "Max" clone for video calls to my parents and as photo albums for them. We put in Nest doorbells for them too so it's good for them to have around to hear it when it rings.
