At Home Depot, both 3/8 and 1/2" stubby kits just dropped from $329 to $179.00 but there is a bogo right now making the kit 115.26. Just select any of the $99 tools.

Looks like kit was $199 couple days ago. Home Depot trying to clear these kits as the new 2nd gen version is coming

Buy both and return the $99 tool to only pay the $115 price.

I just tried this impact wrench on my truck. The wheels were torqued to 118 ft/lbs a year ago. They are normally difficult to break lose after a year of heavy heat cycling and require me to stand on the end of a 2.5 ft breaker bar to bust the lugs lose. I charged the new 4 ah battery for about 30 minutes, which brought the sate of charge to 4 out of 5 bars. So not even a fully charged battery. It broke the lugs lose almost immediately, with only 1 of the lugs taking about 3 seconds to break lose. I cant complain for the $100 I paid using the $15 coupon.

If you're on the fence...

Which one is better for brake jobs 1/2" or 3/8"?
At that torque ? 3/8 , unless the impact sockets you have are 1/2

True, they're coming in September I believe.
They're coming in August and September but don't bat an eye at these. The new batteries will be compatible and boost these tools. If you're considering it, now is probably the best time.

So I got 4 of these coming. Two 3/8" and two 1/2". I couldn't cancel the add on freebies either. I didn't try calling or chatting with customer service. Just trying to see if I will be able to return those 4 add ons in store without any trouble. Any advice from those more experienced with these kind of Home Depot deals?

Hmmm...I've already got a 1/2" Fuel Stubby. Ordered the 1/2" M18 a few days ago and it's on the way to HD (I don't own any M18 tools currently and was looking for an excuse to enter the lineup).
But now people mention this next gen 1/2" stubby that sounds like a beast. What battery is needed to get that max perf out of the new stubby?

Or am I over-thinking and should just keep the 1/2" M18? The current stubby 1/2" has been great but I wonder if I blew it by getting that instead of 3/8" M12 and an M18 1/2".

I have the 3/8 stubby and tbh I'm disappointed. It is weak and it can't break loose the caliper housing bracket bolts and wheel bolts. But it is useful for smaller engine bolts and the size is great for cramped spaces. That gen 2 looks promising if has more breakaway torque power

Most people have no problems tackling those jobs with the stubby unless they're super corroded or way overtorqued. I'd question the batteries you're using, the fit and quality of your sockets, the setting on the wrench, or the rare possibility that you got a lemon.

Wouldn't mind getting the 1/4 inch a lower price. Hopefully, they go on clearance soon.

I just grabbed a 3rd gen 1/4 hex impact for cheap and going to replace the anvil to 1/4" square. Videos are online of others doing this.

I was able to return all four of the add ons that I had purchased, all at the same time. I was worried that it would be an issue, but they were very nice and quickly processed all the returns.
