I have had a back yard for decades and have not yet felt the need to fog it in any way. What are my yard and myself missing out on?

I have one. Paid around 300. Used it a few times, and it broke. Ryobi support was god awful, the worst I've ever dealt with. I eventually wrote a review which got them to send me a replacement. For 25, it's a great deal obviously.

I use it to spray my backyard to kill ticks and mosquitos.

I think I got like 6 of these from that deal a couple years back just sitting in the garage 🥹

edit: they're different and much smaller. Need to chuck them in the donation bin already
If you have kids, look for the video on YouTube that shows you how to turn it into a spray gun by removing one of the nozzles. My kids love it. Guessing you have the regular electrostatic sprayers that Direct Tools was giving away a couple years ago. I ended up with 5 myself.

They've been desperate to unload these for at least a year now. I have a lot of Ryobi 18V but won't touch these.

1. These have never costed $300
2. You can just take it to Home Depot if it breaks and they send it in to Ryobi and contact you when it's ready.

Price seems growth, but what the heck would I do with thks?
Remove the atomizer insert from one of the nozzles and convert it into a battery powered water gun.

Could these be modified into powered water guns by changing tips/ nozzles?
Absolutely. All you need is a small flat head screwdriver to unscrew the center of one of the nozzle inserts and it goes from a mist into a stream. I have 2 of the pistol grip sprayers with the bottom mount reservoirs and this backpack version as well.

Can someone please indulge me ... What is the difference between an electrostatic sprayer and the Mister? Do I need another Ryobi tool? No. But I would use it to spray the gutters and vinyl fences twice a year in lieu of a traditional hand pump sprayer.

These things are great! I spray the front yard right before the weekend to keep all the boys from picking up my daughter. Make sure you also do the back just in case.

Yep. We had several of the ryobi electrostatic sprayers at the jail I work at to kill covid during the pandemic. We had to spray everything down three times per shift. Anything inmates and staff would touch. After the spray started causing problems with the phones, visiting machines, and speakers, They started exempting all kinds of things not to spray. It magically became less important to stop covid in certain devices and surfices. All the sprayers now sit there and haven't been touched in years.
This was unfortunate hygiene theater. Covid is an airborne infection and cdc/who didn't want to acknowledge this (until this year even)

FYI the mister is the same as the mister / fogger but cost $20 more for a small battery and charger, otherwise same model number. Marketing trying to pull a fast one here

Don't be fooled by the "electrostatic" nonsense. These are just fine-mist sprayers/foggers.

You can't do electrostatic spraying without a proper ground which this does not have. Like many covid-related things, these were all the rage for a hot second but turned out not to perform as promised.

For 15 bucks ... sure why not. I might get a couple for parts for other projects.
The instruction specifically say to wear grounding strap and leather soled footwear so as to provide earth connection. I dunno if dry ass leather is going to give ground though. I know Minnetonka moccasins do when damp + electric fence!

what are some uses for that electo static sprayer? I have a few free ones from past deals...
I had one for years until I figured out a use for it.

I put some dawn detergent and water in it to spray down my astroturf before pressure washing it.

So yeah, actual use case scenarios seem to be limited.

Typically Bifenthrin is used for killing mosquitos and other insects. I'm not sure if you need a license to purchase it or not, but it's only really good for a week or two, if you cover everything. Any rain or irrigation and it'll wash it away.

I spray the day before outside events and it helps a lot
