Almost the dream phone, until you notice the common Moto caveats. It's using a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 which is sluggish by today's standards (and much slower than it's midrange rivals), and it gets 1 year of updates when other Android phones come with 5 or more.

My Samsung Galaxy s20 FE 5G is starting to have issues with the charging port no longer charging properly, and I would like to continue having expandable memory. Would this be worth upgrading towards?

I have the same question. I ended up buying both and will return one. But wondering what people think. I like double the internal storage of the Pixel 7a (256gb), bigger screen, headphone jack. Biggest issue is software upgrades to me. Not sure if this is a really big deal or not...

I really wanted to get this phone but as I mentioned here, I looked at tests and it's about half as fast as the Moto G Stylus 5G 2024. Still may be fast enough for me. I don't play games. And I don't care at all about updates.

There's a general baseline in performance that is acceptable. It's different for everyone, but for me, it's a 2019 flagship processor (Galaxy S10 or newer).

This is essentially a 2022 midrange chip and the 7a that's on sale for a similar price will smash it in terms of performance and updates. Although it has slower qi charging (I don't use), no headphone jack (I use an adapter), and worse battery life.

I don't play games on mobile either but I notice the lack of lag in the interface and smooth scrolling on my P7.

You're correct about the processor generation and limited updates, however I've had this phone for the last month or so and it does not feel sluggish at all. In fact, I think it's the best Moto G in a while, though I wouldn't recommend it for AAA gaming.
