Does it support Linksys Velop Mesh technology?
No. This model does not support Linksys Mesh; it is a standalone router only.

Can I use the Linksys app with the Linksys MX4300 (LN1301)?
No. This router does not support Linksys cloud services; therefore, the Linksys app is not supported.
Looks like someone was able to get OpenWRT [openwrt.org] working on this router model.
Ok, so I got mine and fiddled with it. First, this is a very easy router to unbrick so go ahead and fiddle with the firmware all you want. Unfortunately I was unsuccessful in installing the linksys mx4200v1 firmware as well as installing openwrt for mx4200v1. On openwrt the light turned purple but I couldn't ssh into the router. I guess it can't be hacked into a mesh. Went ahead and purchased the slickdeal mx8000 refurbished that was just posted and will be returning these. Good luck to all and please do post on any different outcomes. Obviously $25 a node for a 4.2gbps Wi-Fi 6 mesh would be a spectacular bargain.

Is this any good? Like if you bought 3?
If this is the same as the three pack then yes it's great. Just don't update firmware if you don't have to and if you do disable homesite.

But the throughput is excellent as is the range

Thanks for sharing the Amazon link. I was going to buy from woot until i saw your link. Bought one to upgrade since it seem like a food deal for a tri-band wifi 6.
You still bought from Woot, just through Amazon's site.

HW should be identical to the MX4200. Linksys re-used the data from the MX4200 for the FCC certification.
So it's likely OpenWRT would work.

Linksys FW is no longer updated and pretty limited. So OpenWRT is pretty much a must.

This is even cheaper than the 3 pack of MX4200 for $100 deal.

$25 for a tri-band AX router with OpenWRT support is a really good deal.

I'm running OpenWRT on the similar MX5300 without any issue.
tempted to try this.

these tri band routers are great for hotel rooms. pickup 5ghz and rebroadcast it on 5ghz.

Being sold by a third party on Walmart with a questionable reputation....but free shipping and returnable to the store, so low risk at $25.

Regular price specified as $50 on Walmart.
it's honestly probably from the same seller.

not everything from woot is from amazon. Amazon just owns woot. 3rd party vendors can signup to sell things on woot.

Eero peeps… At this point you can buy this one, connect it to the modem,,,,, plug eero into it, get all the controls eero locks behind paywall and enjoy the mesh of eero and have a backup wifi with same ssid and pw that you spin up if ever an issue with interwebs

$25 fixes the annoyances of eero while enjoying the perks of eero ….. unless you need 2.5gb connection to modem which no one has that plan anyway to take advantage of such speed

Anyone know the difference between this and the 3 pack here:

https://slickdeals.net/f/17627907-prime-day-3-pack-linksys-mx12600-mesh-wifi-router-ax4200-wifi-6-router-velop-tri-band-100

Like would I be better off returning the 3 pack and ordering 3 of these instead?

I'm reading that it's the same exact hardware, though, and I plan on flashing Openwrt onto them.

For $25, I'll bite. I'm looking to use this as a second wireless access point solely to transmit wifi to the park across the street from my house since it's a 4g/5g dead zone and my wifi is just slightly out of reach. Hopefully openwrt will work and it'll work for my use case.

Let me know if you find someone who has already done that. I would buy 3-4 of these if it 100% able to be flashed and used as a MESH network

Curiously, the retail [ebay.com] and white box [ebay.com] packages show "[Powered by] Linksys Intelligent Mesh"

I bought this refurb Linksys Velop AC2200 3-pack mesh router (model WHW03) when it made SD in May 2022 for $100 (!), mainly due to OpenWRT support (with limitations) and wired backhaul. These routers depreciate to almost nothing when they reach EOL. And I still don't have a single .ax device at home -- even my latest Moto G Power 5G 2024 phone is still .ac.

Just curious: how is OpenWRT on those things? I have 2 myself, still running stock Linksys firmware which, to put it bluntly, is quite possibly the worst piece of software I've ever had to deal with…

Just bought one - it's getting here in a couple days though. Will try flashing OpenWRT and report back.

I ordered this a few months ago for $60 🫣 and after the initial set up it forced me to use the app 🤷🏼 ♂️

I don't have this model, so I can't test it.

On my older model, one the built-in web browser if you click past the page where it has the QR code to download the app, then log in to the next page. At the bottom of the page is End User License Agreement : Privacy Statement : etc To the far right is "CA" if you click CA on mine you can enter a settings area.
(I may have this slightly out of order, but if you see "CA" in the far right bottom of the page it should get you into admin mode)
