Does it support Linksys Velop Mesh technology?
No. This model does not support Linksys Mesh; it is a standalone router only.

Can I use the Linksys app with the Linksys MX4300 (LN1301)?
No. This router does not support Linksys cloud services; therefore, the Linksys app is not supported.
Looks like someone was able to get OpenWRT [openwrt.org] working on this router model.
Ok, so I got mine and fiddled with it. First, this is a very easy router to unbrick so go ahead and fiddle with the firmware all you want. Unfortunately I was unsuccessful in installing the linksys mx4200v1 firmware as well as installing openwrt for mx4200v1. On openwrt the light turned purple but I couldn't ssh into the router. I guess it can't be hacked into a mesh. Went ahead and purchased the slickdeal mx8000 refurbished that was just posted and will be returning these. Good luck to all and please do post on any different outcomes. Obviously $25 a node for a 4.2gbps Wi-Fi 6 mesh would be a spectacular bargain.

Amazon price has been $30 lately, small discount
There is no history of prices on Amazon. It appears a new listing.

Looks like a great deal on a quality router. But couldn't see any significant advantages over my Apple Airport Extreme (6th generation). Otherwise might have gone with it.
Airport extreme 6th gen is 3x3 802.11n for 2.4GHz and 3x3 802.11ac for 5GHz.
MX4300 is 2x2 802.11ax for 2.4 GHz and 2x2 for one 5Ghz radio and 4x4 for the other.

Your devices that support 802.11ax (aka Wifi-6) are the ones which would benefit the most. They might be faster or work at a longer range especially in 5GHz. Overall difference is probably not dramatic though.

All I care for $25 is can this thing work as an Access Point? I have no use for this device as a router.

Is this an upgrade if you change the router like from spectrum?

Guess who owns Linksys? Cisco. Yikes. Try again. LOL!
Their vulnerabilities exist in Linksys' products.
Cisco sold Linksys over a decade ago

Also available via Amazon and Walmart for same price.

This seems to be a binned single unit router from the MX12600/AX4200 line. Likely a business focused model similar to the Netgear WAX202, though this seems newer. No mesh support and is purely standalone router.

Bought one to check it out and will update here. Looking at 160Mhz support(probably not looking at its siblings) and what router options exist if any. Support page seems to indicate that this doesn't have VPN features nor basic security features which is worrying. No indication of a basic firewall or DFS support either.
Just curious if you received and tested this out.

Or if anyone actually bought this and tested flashing with wrt, or relevant features people are speculating on

This is the MX4300, you can see it mentioned on the Linksys site.

As others have mentioned, I'm not sure if this is the same as mx4200 or if it works with the openwrt snapshots for that router, but you can add luci to the installed packages under the customize firmware and request a snapshot build. It only takes a few minutes to process and then you don't have to ssh into it to install luci with command line.

If this is the MX4300, would it work with OpenWRT? It looks like it is that model per their page https://store.linksys.com/support...eNum=59244

I agree it does look like it may be a mx4300. I didn't see that listed on openwrt so unless the hardware is the same then it doesn't look supported. I'm not sure though so don't quote me. I do not have this router, but I do have a mx4200v2 running a snapshot.
