I have a similar one (got from Costco several months ago). Yes 2.5 pounds. The only things I don't like: gets really hot really quick, battery life sucks, keyboard not the best IMHO. But can't beat the design, screen, weight -to-size ratio at this price point. 2 year Allstate warrantee definitely helps, especially at less than $500.. great deal IMHO

The eBay listing states this to have an IPS display but that's wrong as this model only comes with an OLED display and that's also stated in the official spec sheet by Acer: https://www.acer.com/us-en/suppor...01/details

I went through a lengthy review that compared the two models against each other and most functional stats ended up neck and neck and the higher screen res of the "older" model and the longer battery life of the "older" made me go with this model instead of waiting for the more powerful processor to possibly go on sale. I'm going to run tests and battery run time to see how the refurb performs.

FWIW, Microcenter has a similar ASUS Zenbook 15.6" model for $700 currently. I paid $800 at the beginning of the year (which was a discounted price then) and I like it enough that I just got my mom one at $700. She's 77 but tech savy for being in the Joe/Donald age bracket, so I wanted to get her something that wouldn't strain her eyes, and she loves it. I might have grabbed her this Swift Edge and did look for one a couple weeks ago, but I'm not to keen on refurbs.

The Zenbook is also thin, about 3 pounds, and has a nice OLED screen. Ryzen 7, 1TB, 16GB, good build quality, aluminum shell. I've found the battery life to be very good - first laptop I don't use plugged in most of the time. It also has a decent keyboard with the number pad, which was a requirement for my use - the lack of the number pad was what kept me from getting the Swift Edge.

They arent identical systems. I checked and the Intel version has a better cooling system, with double the heatpipes leading to a larger array of cooler fins. The Intel one has a bigger battery too, different screen, etc. So there are quite a few difference between the models.

Both are good at these prices, but the Intel system was the better buy.

Oh okay, then yeah not really the same laptop. Cool, thanks for letting ppl know.

Why are number pads going away? Such a shame.

I got the other Acer referb via eBay last week (aspire 3). It came in a generic box and the computer was well sealed in a thick bubble wrap. Was very clean with no noticeable damage. Charger is an aftermarket but we've put it thru the paces for a generic daily usage and there have been no issues. Also I had missed the "2 year all state warranty" in the listing, so I was pleasantly surprised. It does say you have to make any claims through the email they send you. Keep that in mind and archive/save that email just in case you need it. If I hadn't just got that cheaper model, I would give this one a shot.

Costco [costco.com] does show the same model number (exactly) and says OLED so hopefully this refurbished model hasn't been downgraded with an IPS like the manufacturer says.

Why would there be no mention of one of the best features? Confused
It's the refurb side of their operations, so I'm sure a single person is in charge of thousands of item descriptions. They just can't be 100% I'm sure.

Holy cow this thing is light, and yes the screen has some flex if you try to open it from one corner, but they were trying to keep things light so I understand.

It feels speedy as heck . Key travel is VERY shallow, but I'll be able to get used to it.

Here are photos of my machine I ordered from this deal:

Forgetting about the rest of the specs (which seem decent), I haven't seen this combination of screen quality and lightweight on anything else.

Goes from good deal to amazing if those are your priorities. Even if you go down to 1600p non-OLED and take weight up to 3.3lbs there are only a few options and they all start over $1000 new.

The deal was just posted yesterday. That's some pretty fast shipping for you to have received it the following day. But it does seem, according to the stickers, that it has OLED.

Have you opened it? How many m.2 slots for SSD?

There's been an ASUS model from Walmart [walmart.com]posted here a couple times with Ultra 7 and 3K OLED 120Hz (3.4lbs) for $750. Still haven't seen anything better than that. This is a decent deal if you don't mind refurb and an older AMD CPU (plus a few complaints about heat and fan noise).
