I played the first one in the arcades and also had it for TG-16 (called Fighting Street). The thing I remember most is how bad the controls were. Very difficult to pull off any special moves compared SF2, even a simple fireball.

I just got this yesterday through eneba's marketplace. lots of sellers for under $5 inclusive of fees. activated on steam fine. I even hooked up my fight stick to play a few rounds. good memories!
got me looking into hitbox, the all button controller. this "deal" will end up costing me more than what I spent on quarters in the arcades decades ago.

Those all button controllers definitely are intriguing. Why not just use a keyboard at that point though?

I played it in the arcades when they had this giant rubber pads you had to pound on to kick and punch.

Life was simpler then when I could just hang out at the arcade mall all afternoon while my mom shopped.

good question. i would think it's ergonomic and much easier to hit bigger buttons than tiny keys. just watched this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYgMJ87w-S4 and apparently there's a learning curve, which may or may not be worth it.

I have this game and it works just fine on my Deck. You have to change the graphics settings to Windowed mode.

SF1 vs 2 was a huge leap, sort of like Grand Theft Auto or Legend of Zelda (or even SMB 1 and 2). Major changes. Everything today is much more incremental.

Hitbox is not easier. Keyboard is easier because you don't have to lift your wrist at all. The only reason to get a hitbox is if you need to go to tournaments with a legal button movement controller.

Last time I tried playing it on my steam deck it did not work. It was a glitchy mess.

Emulated versions are free with retroarch and you can use shaders and overlays along with black frame insertion , which gives visually no input lag.
On my 32' dell OLED BFI is set to 240hz.
This game is only worth it if online is not dead.
But then you still have to put up with the crappy built in scanlines.
