It is a good lesson, and one that is frequently repeated in Samsung phone trade in threads - ALWAYS record yourself testing and packing a trade in device for Samsung. Upon your almost certain denial, just hop into live chat and offer to share the video - odds are that the rep will immediately credit you.

Just an FYI. I traded in galaxy tab for the same laptop 2 months ago and Samsung rejected the trade in saying it's broken/cracked. I was 100% in senses when I sent the trade in to Samsung and was well packaged and also had a hard case on it. Now I cannot fight with Samsung saying I sent a clean tablet.
Not going to ship a trade in again. Learnt my lesson.

Update - called Samsung because this post reminded me lol.
Explained the situation. Customer rep looked into the videos and pictures of the trade in their side and confirmed the trade in was received in perfect condition. Getting my $100 back for trade in. Finally! Thanks for this post OP

This is a scam they pull. They're hoping you don't call them up. I've done 40+ trade ins with samsung and probably have had 7 or so that didn't qualify. Most of which, with certainty did not have the issue they claimed. I called them up and they proceeded with the trade in every time.

Same here. The tax appears to be based on the discounted price but plus the trade in value. Not sure if that tax is refunded once the trade in is complete?

I have an iPad Mini 3 (model number MGNR2LL/A) but I don't see an option for that in the drop down menu. I see every model and generation of the iPad Mini except the Mini 3?

What's the best trade in deal for a Mini 3?

As so many others have suggested, take a video and plenty of photos of your trade-in item for dispute purposes. I have the box, packing materials, trade-in printout, all in view of the item in the vidieo. Make sure you capture the IMEI or device MAC address, and film the entire reset process all the way until the device goes back to the initial setup. Be sure to get the condition of the item all around in the video, screen and back especially.

I had to deal with "device not reset", "device not in stated condition", and outright "box was empty". Each time I chatted with Samsung support, be really nice to them, and told them I have photos and a video of the entire trade-in prep. Each time they cleared my trade-in without asking to see photos or video. I figured I could use the video to dispute with my credit card company if needed as well.

I did the 360. The base model didn't have touchscreen/a few other shortfalls and I initially ordered a Pro. I saw how obnoxiously large the track pad was and that changed my mind. Took that back to Best Buy and did the grade in again for the 360 version.

I am very happy with mine, I use it for personal/school and a occasionally for my 9-5. So far no complaints and I'm very happy w my decision.

I'd watch a few YouTube videos and recommend checking the models out in person at Best Buy if you're able to

Why didn't you pay the extra $50 and get the Book4 Pro? It's all around better device.

Unless you absolutely need tablet mode..

Agreed, spec wise the Pro is way better. I tried the Pro and it was not for me for the following:

1) Obnoxiously large track pad. People who draw/create, probably nice for? Not ideal for me. Awkward placement for my arms/hands to type
2) Screen has boxier dimensions (larger) than the 15.6" model. This causes bit more flimsiness w the screen, esp if I'm sitting and this is on my lap

I tested it in Best Buy to make sure mine wasn't outlier. Videos on YT noted this too.

FWIW, I REALLY wanted to keep the Pro, those were just personal deal breakers I couldn't get past 😭

The same story happened to me too! I traded my Samsung S20 FE in perfect condition but Samsung rejected tradein saying it's broken. I argued with customer service and they just issued my tradein fund without no further questions. I mean there must be something wrong on their end! They will fool you if you don't ask!

They received my iPad Mini 2 yesterday, got an email today that my trade in is complete. So I got the $327 trade-in credit as shown/promised.

Just received the confirmation regarding the completion of successful trade-in. It was delivered yesterday. Bought it from ebay and had few scratches on the back.

Oh that's a great idea! I'm sure that eventually they would flag the IMEI of any cellular devices, but it would not really matter on a laptop.
