It is a good lesson, and one that is frequently repeated in Samsung phone trade in threads - ALWAYS record yourself testing and packing a trade in device for Samsung. Upon your almost certain denial, just hop into live chat and offer to share the video - odds are that the rep will immediately credit you.

Just an FYI. I traded in galaxy tab for the same laptop 2 months ago and Samsung rejected the trade in saying it's broken/cracked. I was 100% in senses when I sent the trade in to Samsung and was well packaged and also had a hard case on it. Now I cannot fight with Samsung saying I sent a clean tablet.
Not going to ship a trade in again. Learnt my lesson.

Update - called Samsung because this post reminded me lol.
Explained the situation. Customer rep looked into the videos and pictures of the trade in their side and confirmed the trade in was received in perfect condition. Getting my $100 back for trade in. Finally! Thanks for this post OP

This is a scam they pull. They're hoping you don't call them up. I've done 40+ trade ins with samsung and probably have had 7 or so that didn't qualify. Most of which, with certainty did not have the issue they claimed. I called them up and they proceeded with the trade in every time.

Oh that's a great idea! I'm sure that eventually they would flag the IMEI of any cellular devices, but it would not really matter on a laptop.

Those are words, yes.

So are you implying that Samsung maintains a repository of security keys linked to each laptop they sell that grants them the ability to remotely "lock" it based on an agreement the user enters into upon purchase, and this remote locking function is not modifiable by the purchaser?

Is the 14 inch pro worth 730 the 14 inch. I really wanted a MacBook Pro but can't afford it.

If you really need a Macbook, just buy a used M1 Air. I picked one up for $400 with 16GB of ram. They are old enough that people are upgrading, but the M1 chip is still incredibly relevant today. I've seen the 8GB models for as low as $350 locally.

What do you mean by special? It is a Windows 11 laptop with an I7 processor 16gb of ram and a 512 ssd. You are essentially getting a $900 laptop for $320.

I have the original Mini (1st Gen), but that's not on the list.. damn.. 😞 I wish they had it in the list for another 100 or something.. still would've been a decent purchase at $400-450.

But for surfing and writing papers and movies is it worth it . The oled vs mini led on the pro do you think it's worth it

Samsung trade-in program is definitely getting much much worse nowadays. I did 2 trade-ins in early deal for same model of book4. I factory reset both of them and took photos of them before I shipped them out. Both of them got rejected today. I had to chat with them twice and it turned out their so-call technicians mismatched my trade-in devices with someone else's, very very messy. Here are details:

1. Reason: sent a S8+ tablet instead of ipad min 2. They showed me 4 random photos of someone else's S8+ tablet. Since I took photos of my trade-in device and also they had unboxing video showing my trade-in was ipad min 2 indeed when they received it, they quickly accepted the mistake and fixed the chargeback.
2. Reason: ipad min 2 was not factory reset or unlocked. This one was hard to fight. They again sent me 3 random phots of some ipad min 2 which are not clear enough to tell anything. After I insisted, they sent me the unboxing video of my trade-in. I can confirm that video was actually for my trade-in box. It took me a while to figure out the ipad in unboxing video is actually different from ipad they rejected and sent me the photos. In the unboxing video, their technician did some quick inspection and put a white sticker on the back of ipad as last step. the location of white sticker in the video and the location in the photos are completely different. I pointed it out and they finally accepted their mistake and fixed the chargeback.

That's hassle . I'm glad it worked out for you!

I'm going to send out mine with a sticky note with my order number and a giant drawing or design so I can spot from a crappy camera

Same with any trade in. Especially at&t. I had to contact bbb to sort it out even after I provided video proof. I never do mail in trade ins after that.

The main problem with samsung trade-in process is that they have one guy to do unboxing and another guy later to do actual verification of trade-in, in between anything can happen

Was thinking of throwing together a working ipad 2 mini from my graveyard to get this, but then looked again and it has a pretty BS 7 series processor, only 2P cores like an i3 and Raptor Lake processors which is in the midst of a recall. Saw the Lenovo 7i for $250 with upgradable specs and will probably get that.

I've never had a denial, several trade ins, however I ALWAYS do this because of the horror stories I hear!
