My friends and I played through this game last year when it first game out. If you enjoy the base Ticket to Ride at all, then this is a real treat. I won't spoil anything, but the game board is exposed little by little along with a lot of different game elements/mechanics that make it unique to the original game. By the time you're done with the entire campaign, you will have a very unique board that is different to anyone else's and you can continue to play regular games afterwards, so it's not just 'completed'. Anyway, I really liked it and think it's well worth the cost for what you get.
Legacy Games are made to have some components destroyed or changed over time so you often have many more than the standard game. One top of it you have likely a set number of play throughs and scenarios as well which need to be accounted for in the overall price.
in the end of the day, you are paying $100 for Ticket to Ride, which is a terrible game unless you are 6 year old, 80 year old, or only ever played Monopoly.
Ticket to Ride is not that bad, especially if you borrow stations from another set.
But, it is not worth this price, nor $120, even as a Legacy game.
This is the reason I stopped buying board games, when that "A" company gobbled up other publishers setting a Price Floor, google it, on games they now controlled, because if we buy a game for what it's worth, well, we are doing ourself a disservice... It's the add value in the mind of that "A" company that demanded we pay more.
Yes that's about what they said as I recall.
Big thread on this subject on boardgamegeeks, back in the day.
At the end of the day, it's just paper and cardboard.
An old Moon game that is better? Airlines Europe. It has stocks mechanics, about $38.
You need a couple of plays to get the stock impact to your score.
