Are you saying that from personal experience with this monitor or do you mean in general?

From my assessment, my 27" 4K Acer works well at 100% resolution and I do not have the desk space for a 32" in my face. The font is small, but is totally legible. I have tried 150% scaling on the font (I think 150% or 200% is the default?) and immediately changed it to 100% scaling. The amount of content displayed at once is absolutely vital to me. I have many spreadsheets and use DOORS (which is like a giant cell sheet of test cases and linked docs) for work which absolutely make life easier without having to scroll or tab constantly. I'm a programmer with a 15" 2k res laptop and use a 24" 1080p monitor in portrait mode, and the 27" 4K monitor on the side.

For productivity, the specs on this monitor sound very nice, especially with KVM.

Just my two cents for why I disagree with needing 4k on a 32" display. I'm getting old, but my eye sight is still OK that I don't need to scale to 150%.

Anyone want to ELI5 with MacBook's compatibility regarding concept of usb c? I was under the impression monitors need to be TB3/4 to display.

What do I need to look for in future monitors that don't have Thunderbolt but just display and video with usb c ?

I love 27" 4K for office work. Scale up the font so I can read easily and it's really nice having the extra clarity compared to 1440p.

If you shell out an extra $40 you get PHILIPS Brilliance 279P1. Built-in speakers and arguably better sRGB coverage...
I was looking at the comparison and I think this outlines it well

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/co...777772-REG

Can other people comment if it is better or not? 279p1 does have rj45. When using it with 2 computers, does that mean only the active one uses the rj45? And the other will be disconnected from the network?

Also ccc says the 279p1 hit 219 in June..

edit: this monitor supports daisy chaining and the other one doesn't. right?

This is very good monitor but know that you cannot run at the native resolution and you need to scale it up for it to show text at legible size. If you run native resolution, the text will super small and I believe you need to run at 150%+ to make it usable. So effectively, for office work, you cannot have the 4k real estate.
For office work, 4k should be at least 32".
Speak for yourself, I run my 27" 4k monitor and even my 27" Imac Pro 5k at 100% scaling and love how small everything is. I have exceptionally good eyesight though.

Agreed! In the description, it says 100x100 compatible, but couldn't find any details on the mount used, as I'm sure my current VESA mount will not likely fit in the holes due to how the arm is connected, which is in a circle pattern.

EDIT: I found the manual and it show that a VESA bracket comes with the monitor. Fingers crossed it does, as I'd really like to use my arm mount.

Thanks for the help! Do you know the refresh rate? I did ordered anyways since I'm going to be doing plenty of work with image analysis so refresh rate isn't very important to me but would be cool if it has high refresh rate as a bonus

No need to have exceptional eyesight. 28" 4k at 100% scaling is the perfect resolution/dpi tradeoff.
Need to be aware of the benefits of high resolution though..no important thing in life is "free".. you give up something when you get something. Called tradeoffs..

It's 60Hz max, IIRC. Not great for gaming but perfect for office work, photo editing, etc.
