A quality speaker setup at a good price for people that have decent jobs?
I have a hard time believing this is going to be 2x as good as the Samsung 990 deal for $680
Sonos is having massive issues with their app and ecosystem since they did a major app overhaul a few months ago. Many people are fleeing Sonos.

I have a Sonos Arc, sub, Move, One, and 4 Sonos speakers from IKEA… not sure I'd invest in Sonos right now.

If you could scroll back to my post history from 6 years ago, no one shilled harder for Bose than me.

Having said that, you can get so much more bang for the buck than this, by building it out yourself.

Klipsch Reference Series 5.2 Home Theater Pack with 2X R-625FA Floorstanding Speakers, R-52C Center Channel Speaker, 2X R-41M Bookshelf Speakers (Speaker System) https://a.co/d/hOLR0uv

Klipsch R-120SW Subwoofer, Black https://a.co/d/cq2BFJA

These two items together will blow you away, and you'll still have enough cash left over for a great denon receiver, capable of atmos, vrr and 4k120hz gaming.

Denon AVR-S760H 7.2-Channel Home Theater AV Receiver 8K Video Ultra HD 4K/120 - (New 2021) (Renewed) https://a.co/d/eld4hxJ

Buying this Bose setup, even at the sale price, is absurd.
I have a floor-standing setup. The sound and customization are amazing, but it's not as minimal and clean as a soundbar, which is why some people go for those instead. If you want a simple home theater setup without much fuss, newer soundbars can do the job well.

Has anyone tried the Nakamichi Dragon? I've only seen good reviews. https://a.co/d/cgEGVPx.

I have tried both … and I preferred the Samsung hands down. My main system is 7.2.6 with tower speakers and 2x Dual 15" subwoofers

While I have a good quality receiver and surround speakers, not everyone have the space to put big speakers in their place. Having a good quality sound bar (not saying this is one of them) makes up to it and sound almost as good as a whole home theater system.

Bose has nothing to offer in this price category. Even Samsung Q990B/C is overall better option.
I have to deal with Bose customer support for my dying wireless headset last year and what they offered was beyond insulting. They know how to squeeze cash from customers and later will leave you with not working product. Happened already on 2 different sets for me. I switched to Sony xm4/5 and overall better so far. Also Sony cust support is much better than Bose.

I have had 900 soundbar for over couple years now. I have nothing good to say about it. It never connects to my Samsung TV and is pretty much useless as we don't use it 95% of the time. It would connect sometimes after few reboots. If you Reddit Bose 900 + Samsung TV, you'll find tons of people have similar issues. Of course, YMMV but I thought I'd put it out there. I regret spending the $ on this soundbar
I have 900 for 3 years and in the beginning it had issues connecting to my Sony TV, but quality $25 HDMI cable from Target (Philips if I remember correctly) fixed the issues

If you can fit a sound bar, you can fit a set of Micca MB42x, or RB42x, and a small DAC/Class D Amp Combo.
The speakers can just be put on their sides.

A small set of powered Bookshelves with a remote would work too.
For instance, a set of Kanto YU4.

Its 2x as good…IF you appreciate premium sound or have a difficult room which needs room correction processing (open concept, asymmetrical, 2 story, ect)

The Samsung does have good ATMOS effects, but is terrible for music, and requires fiddling with surround modes when content type changes. Even worse, most of the modes dont use the full set of drivers or full EQ, and the ones that do sound tinny. My old JBL 5.1 bar sounded better, but didnt have ATMOS.
In contrast the Bose has excellent room correction, upmixes everything automatically to room filling surround, and sounds awesome on all content…. The clarity of the center channel is exceptional for dialogue, and surround sound comes from everywhere….can hear every breath.
Also, the subwoofer is significantly better…..the Samsung bass is overall weak except for explosions…..not musical at all
Aesthetically, this looks like a piece of art where the samsung is UGLY.
I had the Sammy on a similar deal….….. Swapped to this (at twice the price) and was NIGHT AND DAY better.
Definitely worth 2x IMO, but YMMV based on how premium you expect and if you dual purpose the bar for music.

Hmmm, this bar competes quite well especially at this pricepoint. The Samsung Q990 is a tier down with LG and Vizio - sounds hollow, has no room correction, upmixing is poor, and the bass is weak. For music there is no comparison, Bose wins hands down. Soundbars are also a focus of the look in your living room….Bose is sleek and modern, the Samsung is big and UGLY. Just saying they compete well in this price range, in line with Sonos.
Cool if you like the Sony headphones after a bad experience, I never had to use Bose support so cant speak to it. Odd thing to me is Bose gives a generous 90 day risk free trial…..not typically a sign of bad support, but maybe they have cleaned up their handling. This is my second Bose product, no problems.

Having come from a great surround sound system with high quality receiver and speaker in a dedicated room to an Apple TV with two HomePods…
I am not terribly disappointed with the trade off at all. Full surround is for a very few individuals who will actually use it how it is meant to be used and enjoy it.
For 99.9% of the people a single soundbar or two HomePods will cover it adequately.

I second the sentiment of many Bose users here. I'm using Soundbar 700 with bass module and surround speakers for 5 years.

While the sound is decent overall, not home theater level but ok for all content types. However, the connectivity is always a headache. I connect it to an LG OLED, and there's no sound every now and then. Requires that I reboot the soundbar. Sometimes, even that doesn't work and requires the soundbar to reset. Sometimes, I even had to connect soundbar to router by network cable to update the firmware and reset only, after which the connection goes through.

All the above steps are official troubleshooting, which indicates Bose agrees there are issues and hasn't fixed them in so many years. I'm terrified to recommend their Soundbars to anyone now as they failed to fix these in the latest models and are still selling them with potential connectivity issues.

I wouldn't use HomePods imo, since they're not designed to be used as speaker for TVs. Although if I didn't had a dedicated complete surround sound setup, having a soundbar that has at least 5.1 would be a good option and it would be good for most folks. Specially since they're are more compact compared to tower speakers and bookshelf's.
