Woot has the Linksys mx10600 velop mesh wifi router two pack for $89.99. This is two mx5300 units.
I bought when it was offered at $130.

https://computers.woot.com/offers...6-system-3

It's Qualcomm IPQ8071a based with 4x4 radios on all bands. 2.4GHz and one 5GHz are 802.11ax and one 5GHz is 802.11ac.

Stock firmware has not been updated since 2022. It's supported in OpenWRT snapshots though. I installed opener and it works fine.

To bypass the screen that seems to force you to use the Linksys app when you connect to the web UI, click on the picture of the phone. Then click CA at the bottom of the page.

Just not crazy about routers that don't have external antennas.

It is factory reconditioned! Not brand new. Not a bad price though. It is a little better than mx4200 hardware wise.

Fun fact. If you ever try to find a brick to throw at a robber, this will do. It has huge metal heatsink inside and it is very heavy!

stupid SD transforms the deep link, use the one above, search for MX5300 in the upper right corner.

Yes. After you click CA you'll have the web UI that let's you update the firmware. Install the openwrt factory image there. It will warm you about the filename not matching and you continue.
Once you reboot you'll need to use ssh to install openwrt on the second partition so when it fails to boot it'll recover to openwrt rather than stock fw.

This was a solid router for me before I upgraded and the speeds on my new router are about the same. Maybe I should have waited.l for WiFi 7. Lesson learned Wink

Can you please check for vpn speeds ? I am assuming since it has a 2.2 ghz quad core the speeds should be as good as my ax86u .

https://forum.openwrt.org/t/a-wir...-db/187586 search the thread for IPQ8072A.

The AX86U won't ever be supported by OpenWRT, it's Broadcom based.

Should I use these instead of the mesh WiFi routers sold by woot earlier this week for 59.99? Those are AX4000 so I assume it's slower than these.

If you're ok with the slower radios (and a third party seller on Walmart) the LN1301 is still available for $20.

I went with the MX5300 for the faster radios and CPU.

MX4200 and LN1301 have
1.4 GHz quad core CPU
2x2 2.4 GHz AX
2x2 5 GHz AX
4x4 5 GHz AX

MX5300 has
2.2 GHz quad core CPU
4x4 2.4 GHz AX
4x4 5 GHz AC
4x4 5 GHz AX

Most of my devices are not AX so I didn't want to go to fewer streams compared to the 3x3 on all bands AC4000 router I already have. The extra streams help with range and MU-MIMO for client devices with fewer than 4 streams.

Thank you for the reply. LN1301 form what I heard do not support Mesh WiFi that I am trying to set up so I will pass on that.

It'll get it once OpenWRT support have been added, but the setup is nowhere near as easy as on it would hav been on stock fw.
