I will say that some of the best VR games are on it, and many of them have the VR mode as a 'freebie' with the original game. Resident Evil 4 VR? Amazing! Resident evil 8 VR? Also great! Gran Turismo? Awesome! Resident Evil 4 (PSVR2) is so much better than Resident Evil 4 (Quest) due to it being the full PS5 Remake Version instead of the older mobile/quest port.
A lot of the PSVR1 content is not compatible -- games need to be updated to take advantage of PSVR2 (basically a full re-do of how the VR works, so not just an easy update). About half of the PSVR1 titles that are PSVR2 compatible seem to be an additional charge to upgrade.
Many of the 'big release' titles ended up pretty disappointing. I can't even tell you what's still on the horizon for the platform, I haven't touched mine in months but play my Quest 3 a few times a week.
Bonuses: The resolution, CPU and OLED screen are much better than the Quest 3. Vibration mode and eye tracking are also great. The lack of pancake lenses hurt it a bit, as its not as clear as it could/should be. No color-passthrough. Tethered to your PS5, and PC VR is coming.. but its an upgrade/accessory.
I want to love it. I do still like it, but most of the games I still play are older ones that just got the VR modes (like Resident Evil 4/8/Gran Turismo) or ones on other platforms (beat saber, tetris, rez, etc..)
It's just hard to justify it. Last time I wrote this, I got shit on by people saying that SONY still had lots of support for it on the way, but I haven't seen anything at all since then. Quest 3 is finally getting exclusives and big titles like Batman: Arkham, whereas I don't see the big stuff coming for PSVR2 yet. Even just throwing more PSVR1 games at it (Resident Evil 7, Rush of Blood) would be great.
It is absolutely not unreasonable to expect an Astro Bot game to be released for the PSVR2.

Sony showed their cards in the year+ since release. At best, they will maintain basic functionality.
Could they surprise? Sure, but it ain't gonna raise prices and this will be cheaper as time goes on until it's discontinued. In other words, this is no sale price, but rather the slow predictable march to lower price any tech experiences, and this one will be worse

Reports said they overproduced and paused production in March. I'd bet all my money production never restarts. This is the all part of the push to clear the remaining inventory and pretend it never happened. This being on "sale" is like how when I bought my HP Reverb G2 on "sale" for 299.99. It turns out HP knew MS was going to be deprecating WMR and they were quietly clearance all their old inventory so they could exit the space. Sony is doing the same. It's the whole reason the PCVR adapter now exists. They're trying to find some new buyers so it's easier to get rid of the remaining inventory.
