I've sworn off new Wyze devices. The last ones I bought were the Wyze Cam V3 and while the quality of the hardware is decent especially the night vision, the software is not. I've been using their devices for years now but the last straw is that I am no longer getting any notifications from any of the cameras and it's a common issue.

They originally had all kinds of features advertised for free with just longer cloud recording behind a paywall then they started removing some of the features. I'm on the free tier right now. Now it's a manual check which defeats the purpose. That and local video recording is clunky. It's there but usually won't identify any videos exist until you sit in the playback menu for several seconds and then it's not a great interface to play things back.

It's cheap but also it's cheap.

IDK The black looks really professional IMO. My white one started to yellow as well. This shouldn't have that issue.

Replaced my original wyze doorbell with this and I'm blown away with the quality. Works with the original doorbell chime. Mounts with the same holes as well. Connected immediately and the camera quality is insanely better. I also like that it's wider. I got this on sale for $25, then 30% off to use my credit card reward points. So out the door under $20. Steal!

The house chime.
Got it. My chime is a mechanical one that doesn't work with it. (If you press the button, it does not stop ringing until it's disconnected) Very dumb of Wyze to not make this new doorbell work with the v1 chime if they weren't going to include one with the v2.

Yeah I will say I was surprised they didn't add that function but wanted to use my built in doorbell. Gen 1 didn't work with the house bell at all and if you unplugged the chime, you had to reprogram it to the doorbell. Quite annoying.

Checked YouTube review, seems couple misses on the V2. 1st, the SD Card is on the side, anyone can remove it. 2nd, camera isn't lock with any screw, anyone can just steal it without any tool.

I posted this on prime day when it was the same price but with additional 10% off with the prime visa.

https://slickdeals.net/f/17631021-wyze-video-doorbell-v2-wired-2k-video-24-7-local-recording-microsd...

AFAIK this is the only doorbell that work with an existing chime, hardwired (no battery) and can store to local microSD card. The nest wired one comes close but you can view free notifications for the past 3 hours only.

Most -ve reviews are with issues with the chime not working with a16V 10VA transformer . You need to either upgrade the transformer or bypass the Wyze Doorbell Chime Controller. But you will loose the chime controller surge protection (the chime controller has a fuse in it).

Another issue is the mcirosd card opening is visible as well as someone can just pull the doorbell off. But you can get an anti theft doorbell cover if that's a concern.

The person, package and vehicle detection is not in the hardware but in the cloud s/w and that requires subscription. Without that you get notifications for any motion.

Other than the above, this is a great doorbell and a much better upgrade over the 1080p Ring I had before.

Do consider if your doorbell is facing east and gets scorched sunlight like mine, it's doomed to fail working in summer days. I'm in NOvA zone 9. Fix - disconnect the wires from the door bell and reconnect once the weather gets little cooler.

No chime included. It hooks up to your existing house doorbell.

Agree but you can get a white silicone skin on eBay for $9.99

That's just 3D printed PLA— very rigid and brittle and based on the listing photos it looks like a poor print job (and will probably look awful in person). I'm sure there are other similar products out there.

Wyze used to be amazing. Now they are hiding where microsd is storing and making it super complicated to see event motion and just show a picture and "hey do you want to subscribe to cam plus" Just bought Battery pro and its even worse. Only reason to be bought into wyze was microsd, probably time to bail completely.

Looking at the third picture seems that anyone can just remove and leave with the micro SD card
Well with all the smart doorbells anyone can just lift it off the mount and walk away with the whole thing. But no one is.

So this can work with alexa or google home ecosystems or is other hw needed?? I got the laview stuff, and adding yet another device and app will slow all apps on the crowded wifil. All the wireless cams are bound to not be popular at most homes. Also easy to jam. Good for keeping honest people honest though.

I bought the $15 woot 7 inch fire tab deal last week (good clean deal), just to see what you could do with it. Can a simple fire tab provide enough power to do a simple survalance system work? IDK..
