Can anyone tell if this is good for 240v countries? Will this go on fire if I travel with it?

Should be. "The built-in USB module is compatible with all standard wall outlet voltages worldwide (100-240V)." according to the Amazon listing.

These look like good candidates to throw into a laptop/travel bag. I use something similar but bigger probably twice the size of this, and it has been a life saver when traveling.

Better described as a power strip than a surge protector tho. 300 joules is not much to brag about. OTOH this thing is pretty tiny. And I agree these right angle flat AC power plug kick ass.

The 10 footer is on sale for 25 for one. Still not too bad for something like this with an extra long cord.

edit, oh I clicked back to the 5ft one and it shows one for 15.99 which isn't bad at all if you don't want 2

One of the reviews shows a pic of the bottom and the AC outlets are NOT good to 240v, only the USB ports? I cannot direct link to the review sorry

edit - but then again right on the front page it says 240v..... I dunno. I would need this as well as my work datacenter is 220v power

Great by/under couch or other furniture charging or plug solution. Wish it had more USB-C than USB-A but still a big fan of these.

I brought 3 of these to the Philippines and they work. No transformers needed.

You will need a transformer if anything you are powering can only be run on 110V. This strip doesn't magically step down the voltage from 240V. If you plug it into a 240V socket, the sockets in the strip are also 240V.

I have two of these. USB ports don't work any longer on either one. Still works fine as an extension cord but now I have USB bricks sticking out three sides which takes up a lot of space compared to your standard 6 outlet strip. I don't know why Anker can't figure out the USB port situation on their strips but all of mine have failed at some point or another.

I would assume it's cost effective on their end, it's inconvenient for the customer but as long as they replace them most people keep buying them. It's unfortunate because it's really part of the e-waste endemic that comes with cheaper electronic products.
Anker used to be on of the few that was anti this practice, but it must be a practice easily fallen into by companies getting ahead anymore.

Was about to buy this until I saw the 1 star reviews about troubles with the USB ports..Here's one review:

Reviewed in the United States on July 26, 2024
Size: 5 FTStyle: White-1 PackVerified Purchase
The problem I have with the USB ports has been reported multiple times.
When you connect or disconnect a device from the USB A or USB C ports, it de-energizes all the USB ports. You then have to unplug all the USB attached devices, reattach, and hope that all the devices will receive a charge.
It was not straightforward finding out how to notify Anker, but once I did through their website they sent me a new unit, after some troubleshooting, and after I provided a detailed step by step explanation of how to recreate the no charging issue.
The problem is the new unit had the same issues, so I am sure they know they have a manufacturing problem with some defects. When I notified Anker the replacement unit was also defective, they said I should provide them a video recreating the problem and load it up to there website.
To quote Mick Jagger, I just don't have that much Jam.
I just want one unit which works properly and I'm happy to return the other ones. I am not a part of their QA team.
I have purchased other Anker products in the past but there is no way I'm going to purchase anymore, it is their job to provide products which are not defective and test them. I am not made happier by having two units which don't work properly.
